Hi I'm going to fit a sash lock to a new door. I've done this previously in the past using a hand, brace drill, but no longer have it. I was after some advice on what power drill bit to use, and any tips when using one as I don't want to damage the door. I will practice on a bit of...

    UK electric qualifications?

Thanks for your replies What is the NICEIC that you see on sides of vans? Does this mean they are qualified and have taken certain exams as well? The same with the inspection and testing. Are there special requirements do be able to do testing?

    UK electric qualifications?

I know there are notifiable and non-notifiable jobs that competent people are allowed to do, such as replace ceiling roses, add a socket, etc. What is the 17th edition wiring regulations course for? What does it mean/allow you to legally do?

    TF1 magnetic filter, noisy

it's an open vented system - works fine. The tf1 is on the return pipe, vertically above the boiler. it's always been like this, with the heating on, but when the burner goes off, and pump overrun continues, it was more noticeable.

    TF1 magnetic filter, noisy

Has anyone else got a TF1? I have one fitted on my central heating return pipe by the boiler, and it makes a sound when on (when boiler is not firing but pump is on overrun it more noticeable) - sounds like water velocity noise coming from it. I've bled it and some air comes out of the air...

    Thermostat - Immersion Heater problem

The thermostat in my immersion heater failed last week, it wasn't heating up. I replaced it, all was good. But today the new 1 has failed - why is this? It is a top entry immersion heater, 3 kw. The thermostat was the same size as the old one. It was bought from B & Q and had the overheat...

    TF1 question

Hiya - am just fitting a TF1 filter, and want it on the return vertically, going downwards, so use the red o-ring and spacer as the instructions say - but the inlet/outlet port doesn't fully tighten to the body with the arrow pointing downwards! Is this going to leak, anyone else had this problem?

    Compression joint leaking!

Thanks for your help :) I usually use boss white, but to be honest my boss white is "hardening"! so time for a new tub. I have found that brass olives are poor compared to copper ones that seem to compress better!

    Compression joint leaking!

Just a quick question, I've made many compression joints over the last few years, but having made a few this weekend, 1 of them is seeping, a few drips per day. I used a copper olive, and some boss white on a 22mm copper pipe! It seems crazy. Anyone had this before?

Leaking pipe, very little space for fitting

the pipes are in a notch, both in same notch, and I have lifted 2 boards, they go on to run into bathroom floor, there's not very much play. I'm hoping I'll be able to get a compression on tomorrow as there's about 5-8 mm gap between the 2 at best!

Leaking pipe, very little space for fitting

Thanks for your help, I don't have a wet vacm and the pipe will hardly budge! It's been annoying me all day! I think maybe I could get a compression fitting on if I can get about 5-8 mm gap between the 2 pipes

Just a straight coupler - I can't get the pipe very dry, it runs flat, then to a basin bath and toilet

Leaking pipe, very little space for fitting

I'm sorry I don't have a camera phone or camera at all! There's 2 x 22mm copper pipes, laying side by side, and there is a gap of 5mm at most in between, and I need to get a compression fitting onto one of the pipes!

Leaking pipe, very little space for fitting

Hi thanks for your reply. The main problem is that I can't get a fitting on the pipe due to the other pipe, next to it (they are side by side), being so close. There's very little room to turn a compression fitting nut, it's madness! The pipes then go under the floor again, and there's ver...
