100v rice cooker used in the UK

Hello all, I just recently bought a rice cooker under the assumption that most modern electrical appliances support a range of voltages and as such can be used everywhere, so when I bought my rice cooker plugged it in and saw it worked only to come back an hour later to see it could not be...

    Electric power shower problem

Im beginning to think its not the cord switch and more to do now with the actual power shower unit itself, have taken the front panel off and there is an entire array of different wires going all over the place - but again nothing looks burnt or anything :?

Ok have taken it apart. Doesnt seem to be too much out of the ordinary. 2 blue wires going into the main unit, 2 brown wires going into the main unit and then 2 green/yellow wires going into some earth terminals.

    Electric power shower problem

Hello all, I posted here yesterday with an RCD problem I had with my power shower, and we came to the conclusion that I had a faulty RCD unit and needed to buy a new one. So I bought one today, installed it just fine and the shower cords when pulled showed a red light and got hot running...

    RCD and MCB shot?

Nope, tried the test button as well - I agree its rather bizarre how its just stopped working for no reason, unless it was faulty to begin with. I guess I'm going to have to buy a new RCD - any recommendations where I can get one? I've tried Homebase and theyre useless, B&Q looked well expensive...

    RCD and MCB shot?

Heya, Yup tried resetting it with that switch off and same thing happens, doesnt latch at all. Its already as far down as it can go which leads me to think that its blown itself up somehow as it doesnt reset when there is no power going to the unit

    RCD and MCB shot?

Its a europa consumer box with a 63A RCD and 50A MCB. By isolator before the RCD do you mean the cord to turn the shower on? My electric set up is rather crazy. The wiring is rather old and so before I had the kitchen and bathroom redone the whole apartment could be shut down with one...

    RCD and MCB shot?

Cheers for the reply. Ive tried isolating the power and made sure nothing was going into the RCD for the shower, and the RCD still does not latch on when I try it. If its not a faulty RCD, how can I determine this i.e. by getting it to latch on? Thanks !

    RCD and MCB shot?

Hello all, I came back from holiday to find my electric shower was not working i.e. the cord to turn it on was not showing up a red light when pulled. Upon checking the RCD/MCB consumer unit I had put it when I had the shower installed just before the new year I saw the RCD had tripped...

I am wiring a new light fitting in the bathroom. The old fitting only had two terminals. What I have are three reds twisted together and joined with a connector to a single red. I have one black, one yellow, 2 black and 1 blue. I have put the two black and the blue into the neutral, the yellow...

Hello, Little problem with trying to wire a ceiling light. The wiring first of all is very bizarre with 3 reds twisted together, 2 blacks twisted together, 1 stand alone black and another yellow/brown wire. Ive put the 3 reds into the live terminal and the 2 blacks into the neutral...
