A few before and after pics...

This was the original plan, but to cut a long story short, we have outgrown it. We live in a 1st floor 2 bed maisonette, with communal garden and have two dogs. The plan changed from it being a 3 year home. We are now going to keep it an rent it out whilst renting a bigger house (Off of a...

A few before and after pics...

Thanks all. Haven't done anything for a while due to money :( but hopefully get started again in the summer. I have also lost all encouragement to do anything now that the house is worth less than we bought it for.

    ethernet card or usb ?

Hi John, In that case, unless you are doing anything other then general home internet usage, USB should be fine. No need to spend the extra on ethernet. Most Broadband companies expect you to use USB which means most of the step by step instructions and support are written for USB. Yes...

    Cutting door on hinges.

Thanks Symptoms, The only concern that I have, is that where the hinges are screwed into the frame, he has used what looks like cardboard wedges to pack it out, I guess to get everything lined up right. I'm worried that when taking the hinges off the frame, these will drop out :?

    Cutting door on hinges.

Hi all, Last year I had 5 doors supplied and fitted. It cost me quite a lot as they are not standard doors, and it took a hell of a lot of work for the guy to fit them. I have fitted wood flooring in our hallway, but I need to chop a bit off the bottom of each door. I am not keen on...

    ethernet card or usb ?

In my personal opinion, here is my preference: 1, Ethernet 2, Firewire (Not very common) 3, Usb 4, Wireless Never use wireless unless you have to. USB is too software driven compared to Ethernet, which is a good 'ol stable connection. In a strange kind of comparison, Ethernet is...

Can anybody recommend a really hardwearing stair covering ?

I too have this issue, but with a twist. I live in a maisonette (1st floor, but with front door on ground level) and we have two dogs. So, not only am I hesitant to install carpet because of the wearing out, but also because of the state that the carpet gets with the dogs using it all the...

A few before and after pics...

Thanks Ned. No, I'm an IT geek (Specialise IT security) and up until a couple of years ago had never even put up a shelf or even wired a plug. We bought our first flat in 2004, which looked quite 'tidy' if not a bit dated. When we came round to decorate, we found that things were not as...

    Tiny Cracks after skimming platerboard.

Thanks Roughcaster. What do you think the chances of it falling off will be? The plaster doesn't feel like its falling off and actually feels ok. But i don't want it peeling off in a couple of weeks/months after I have put the skirting boards, coving and arcatrave on.

    Tiny Cracks after skimming platerboard.

I have been trying to find a picture of the cracks that have appeared, but having no luck. My camera isn't good enough to show them either, but as you look at them, they sort of appear as a 'marble' effect.

    Tiny Cracks after skimming platerboard.

Hi, I have skimmed quite a few walls before, but yesterday, I skimmed our entrance hall and have noticed very tiny cracks appear everywhere. I have seen this before when I skimmed an old wall and presumed it was because i did not use enough PVA, but this was straight to plasterboard, which...
