Hi guys, BACKGROUND New UPVC french doors have been fitted, and have plastic cavity closers fitted to the vertical reveals (the horizontal, top one, is a steel lintel, with keying gooves. I need to plasterboard all the reveals. For the verticals (where cavity closers are), I intend using...

    Repair of timber sloped firring/fillet

Guys I am looking at the second flat roof on the property , and all of the firrings (aks fillets) [the sloped timber cross beams that go across the kists, and give slope to the flat roof), are all rotten within the first 6 to 9 inches. Further along, from , say the 12 inch .. 18 inch point...

    Do I need 63mm nails for 18mm t&G OSB board ?

Hi JobAndKnock, looked on amazon, and came across a couple of options, which of these would you be inclined to use (see links)? Flooring screws on amazon - seem to have thread then smooth bit then thread or (what seem to be the more general) : or these more general ones (which seem pricey...

Advice on 6.5mm Concrete Screws - pilot hole / powered screwdriver

Guys I bought some 6.5mm (100mm long) concrete screws (which came with a free Torx T30 "bit). I decided to do some tests on some old masonry (before I do the "real" job. Glad I did, because when drilling Pilot holes with 6mm SDS masonry drills, I found that the screws would only reach about...

Flat Roof - should Fasica top be same leel as top of OSB ? or should OSB "extend" and fascia go underneath

And for the (gently) sloping side [which is there to cause a slop for run-off], is it norma to try and cut the Fascia so the bottom of the fasica is "true" (parrallel with the ground) whilst top of fasica "follows" the slope ? [uPVC fascia]

Flat Roof - should Fasica top be same leel as top of OSB ? or should OSB "extend" and fascia go underneath

So, I guess fit the fascia first, then the OSB ? (I havent fitted either yet).

Flat Roof - should Fasica top be same leel as top of OSB ? or should OSB "extend" and fascia go underneath

Flat roof install, DIYer. I haven't yet put the new OSB on, and when googling, I found some images where the OSB seems to extend out, and the fascia board is under the OSB, and others where the top of the fascia board (uPVC 18mm thick - from eurocell) is level with the upper surface of the OSB...

    Do I need 63mm nails for 18mm t&G OSB board ?

Cool - I think I'll screw it. Will chipboard/flooring screws tend to countersink themselves (into 18mm OSB) ? - as I dont want to countersink myself if not needed. (Also - pilot holes yes or no ?).

    Do I need 63mm nails for 18mm t&G OSB board ?

Hi guys - am going to do a flat roof repacement for my extension. I have sort of settled on 18mm OSB t+g for the boards. Question is, do I really need 63mm nails for this ? If so - it implies a "Pasload" type nail gun, which are pricey (circa) £500+. Thoughts?

Floor Screed over a Cavity ? (New French Doors replacing Cavity Wall)

No it already exists (snince 1983) , so I'm just wondering how to screed over the existing cavity (which is currently fresh air).

Floor Screed over a Cavity ? (New French Doors replacing Cavity Wall)

Thanks for the reply. So, just so I'm clear, you are saying take out the blocks and bricks down to 225 below floor ? - Wish I'd never opted for French doors now - quite a lot of work !.

Floor Screed over a Cavity ? (New French Doors replacing Cavity Wall)

Background: Old Cavity wall (which had a single door in it), has been removed, ready for fitting new wide french doors. The brick course where the door cill+frame will go has had to be "shaved" by 15mm, to allow the frame to fit (after helpful advice on here). [Note - on the photo, the bricks...

Is it ok to Nail into the EDGE of OSB 3 18mm T&G (for Fascia/drip batten)

I would have thought plywood is just as bad in terms of a nail through the edge (as opposed to through the face)

Is it ok to Nail into the EDGE of OSB 3 18mm T&G (for Fascia/drip batten)

So - if I understand correctly, lath on underside of OSB (which means OSB will hang over joists, rather than being flush with them), then drip ege fix into lath ? (OSB is oft. used on roofs in my understanding, so I wonder what professional roofers do ?)

Is it ok to Nail into the EDGE of OSB 3 18mm T&G (for Fascia/drip batten)

Screw the baton into fascia board (only?), or through to OSB as well ? cheers

Is it ok to Nail into the EDGE of OSB 3 18mm T&G (for Fascia/drip batten)

I am replacing an old flat roof. It is ply, but I am going to use 18mm OSB. Currently, the Fasica boards are nailed into the joists (fine ?), and also into the edge of the ply board. The drip edges (drip battens I think they are called), are also nailed "through" the top of the fasica boards...

I have a 3.6 m x 3.6 m single storey outbuilding, and am planning on installing 2 x 2.5M sliding patio doors in the north and east walls.
