The opening is 75mm. This is what I am replacing. Not the small one above the window, but the one above that.

    Bespoke concrete lintel

Evenin all, I need a concrete lintel, 245mm wide, 700mm long and 70mm deep. I've tried a few places but no luck yet. Can anyone recommend where to get one, preferably in or near Leicestershire? Much appreciated.

I have a mixer shower connected up to a combi boiler and the mains cold. It's vibrating and making a humming noise when it warms up. Turning the cold water on the basin or bath reduces the problem. So I've got a pressure reducing valve. But where do I fix it? On the mains feed going into the...

    Replacing wooden lintel

Can anyone give me specs on a concrete lintel needed. Will this type from Wickes be good enough http://www.wickes.co.uk/Concrete-Lintel/invt/244002? And what should I replace the brackets with?

    Replacing wooden lintel

Yes there is an electric shower-soon to be replaced with a mixer. Lintel: the two struts supporting the lintel seem to be OK. Do you think I could just replace the horizontal part of the lintel with a concrete one and leave the two brackets in place?

    Replacing wooden lintel

PBD - no idea who put it on. Would you recommend some kind of shielding\trunking? About the lintel - do you think I should get some acros underneath ASAP?

    Replacing wooden lintel

No sign of downward movement at the moment. But above the top lintel is the airing cupboard, and I recently removed the hot water cylinder which was leaking heavily for a while. Therefore the lintel is rotten on the left as you look at it in the picture, but the right hand side doesn't seem to...

    Replacing wooden lintel

I have a wooden lintel above a small window. This lintel has rotted. Below the lintel the brickwork is inset. Where the lintel meets the wall underneath there is a gap exposing inside. This gap has just had concrete poured into it to plug the gap. I imagine I need to replace this lintel...

Which finish for new pine floorboards

I know this has been asked quite a few times (on this forum and elsewhere), but I can't make my mind up and don't want to risk wasting money on expensive oils, etc, and even worse having to sand off something that I've bodged. So after minutes and minutes :) of research I've come down to Osmo...

    Wallplates in recess

That looks pretty good, thanks for that suggestion. I'm not sure if the middle section is wide enough to accommodate the wallplates though. If it's 3/4 inch then it will be OK. So I guess I'll have to try and find out.

    Wallplates in recess

Hello. I have a hole in the chimney stack through which I'm running some AV wires. The wires come through holes in the other side of the stack from the outside. On the inside is a brick-sized hole. I want to mount wallplates in this hole. I've tried mounting the 25mm back boxes onto a...

    Sanding new floorboards

I've just laid some brand new pine floorboards. The room is about 11' by 11'. Would I be stark raving bonkers to give this a light sanding by hand instead of hiring an expensive sanding machine? Matt
