Circuit tripping after fitting new light

It's the mcb that's tripping but as I say not every time it's sporadic, sometimes fine sometimes trips. Think the tripping is less frequent now that I have fitted a dimmer - not sure if that gives any clues.

Circuit tripping after fitting new light

I have just replaced a single bulb light with a mains transformer supplier multilight (20 x 10 watt bulbs), a heavy copper wound transformer rather than a small lightweight one. The light works but trips the mcb sporadically when it is switched on. Think the issue is to do with the circuit board...

Installing LED downlight bulbs - problem

Been away for a few days hence delay in response. Thanks for your tips, will look into the LED driver but I did try all combo's of LED and std halogen as I had that issue when I fitted LEDs upstairs and one std plus 5 LED's fixed it there. Cheers Baxman

Installing LED downlight bulbs - problem

I have just purchased some LED bulbs to replace the existing standard GU5.3 halogen downlights I have. I have a dozen of these in two sets of six. When I put one of the low energy LED's in it is fine, any more than that and the LED's do not light up. Tried all six but no avail. Also tried...

Euro Meridian Alarm Fault Code - Fault 485 Comms Lost

It was something like £60 per annum plus VAT but you had to sign for a three year contract. There are extra call out charges as well but these are not documented, previous owners had a couple of middle of the night call outs which cost them quite a bit. Hadn't got round to renewing the...

Euro Meridian Alarm Fault Code - Fault 485 Comms Lost

Thanks for the tip. If I can find another service engineer in the area then I will probs go for that solution but hesitant to chase after someone who has already let me down. As far as they are aware the alarm is still ringing! Other people in the estate have same company and say that...

Euro Meridian Alarm Fault Code - Fault 485 Comms Lost

I have a Euro Meridian Alarm which developed a fault when I was working on another job, the fault caused the internal ringer to go off. I called the previous owners who told me that this fault was caused by a power surge, it had happened to them a few times and the only way to fix it was to...

    Guttering/Rone Clips Imperial Sizes

Checked my spelling and it was incorrect it should be rhone, it is the guttering along the front of the roofs rather than the downpipes - wasn't aware it was a 'Jock' term any help u can offer greatly appreciated. Cheers Baxman :D

    Guttering/Rone Clips Imperial Sizes

Anyone direct me to a website where I can buy guttering/rone clips in imperial sizes? Not sure of the sizes as this is for my old mans house and he just mentioned it in the passing. Was pretty sure someone on this forum would be able to point me in the right direction. Had a quick look myself...

    Radiator Efficiency

I have a fairly large and draughty victorian house to which I have fitted almost as much draughtproofing as possible - trying to avoid double glazing due to cost. The central heating system still takes an inordinate time to heat our house. Overnight Sunday/Monday this week full blast...

Renovation and Draftproofing of Sash Windows

Thanks for the response Tom. Couple of questions. 1) How did you free up the windows? Did you use a paint scraper and hammer to break the paint seal or did you use some other method - e.g. the age old technique of a bit brute force  2) Sorry for the basic question but how do you...

Renovation and Draftproofing of Sash Windows

I have particularly draughty sash and case windows. Some of which are stuck and some of which require the cords replaced. My main question is has anyone draught proofed their own sash windows? If so what did you use. I have tried the B&Q foam/brush backed gap sealants but the results are...

    Cold Radiator

Managed to solve probs but had sent everyone (myself included!) off in the wrong direction! It was a balance problem. When I refilled the radiator after flushing it I didn't open the lockshield valve (which the previous owner had fully closed). The rad filled by virtue of the fact that bleed...

    Cold Radiator

Now that you have said this something has twigged with me. When I opened the 'hot' valve the rad did not seem to fill (with the bleed valve open). When I then opened the cold valve the rad filled. Can you tell me if the rad would effectively back fill on opening the 'cold' valve or if water only...

    Cold Radiator

I have a cold radiator in our Garden Room. This room was a garage conversion and I suspect that the offending radiator is the last one to be served with hot water - despite fact it is quite close to the boiler. There were two rads in the room that were cold but I seem to have persuaded one to...

    Halogen Electric Light Tripping Fuse

Thanks for the help. It is a mains voltage unit. When I said switching it on and off, this was with a lengthy delay between swithchings. In the meantime I have called the manufacturer direct and they have confirmed that the unit can in certain circumstances can cause sensitive MCB's to...
