Wiring details for stand-alone hi-lo PIR

All Thanks for the replies - and feel free to patronize, I won't take offence! With the current set up, if the internal switch is on, the light comes on and stays on - and if the switch is off, it doesn't come on at all. i.e. If I try to do the walk test when the internal switch is off...

Wiring details for stand-alone hi-lo PIR

Inevitably, I can't find the instructions that came with the PIR (my money's on a certain 6 year old always on the look-out for paper to draw on....) The one I had was from Wickes, though they don't seem to sell it anymore. I've found these instructions online for a very similar looking unit...

Wiring details for stand-alone hi-lo PIR

OK didn't quite load up as shown on my PC, but should be reasonably self explanatory. The box on the right hand side is the switch (with a connector block) and the N,E, L, L1, L2 the connectors within the PIR unit (I've not shown them, but obviously there are various wires on the other side...

Wiring details for stand-alone hi-lo PIR

Hi there. I have replaced a hi-lo PIR for a porch light, and obviously not done the like-for-like wiring swap I thought I had. The unit is supposed to come on dimmed at dusk, and then light up to full power when someone walks up the path - with the option of having it always on by flicking...

    Tile size/pattern for tiny space?

I have a tiny (780 x 960) under-the-stairs loo, which I've stripped out and re-boarded (believe it or not it was smaller before). I'm trying to figure out the best way to tile, and a major consideration is the practicalities of the size of tile to buy, and how to lay them out. On the...

Should I use spray foam insulation?

Ah... Didn't realise it was sprayed directly onto the tiles - hence gunking it into a solid mass - thought there was some kind of membrane between.

Should I use spray foam insulation?

That was the idea, yeah  To be fair, the link brings up over 20,000 results

    Insulating an unfelted roof space

Thanks for the reply. There's nothing going to be up there that needs to stay warm - the usual Christmas decorations, suitcases etc. I guess with this double layering approach I'd lose head-height, but for all the time I'm up there it doesn't really matter. I'd still need to add a...

Should I use spray foam insulation?

As a devotee of 'Holmes on Homes' I've always wondered about how he is so evangelical about sprayed insulation - knowing that it is, shall we say, less than popular over here. To save those of us new to the forum from trawling back through past posts, can summarise the (alleged) pros and cons.

    Insulating an unfelted roof space

We recently moved into a 1930s house, where the previous owner has wrapped the entire area of the loft in plastic sheeting. Apart from being rather odd, I'm worried about condensation. I had thought it was a DIY attempt at insulating/weather-proofing in response to missing roof tiles...
