    cement board or render?

I'm installing a wood burning stove in to my chimney recess. The brickwork in the recess isn't very appealing and I want to cover it. My question is could I cover the brick recess with cement board or is it better to just get it rendered with a lime mix?

    Support for ceramic tiles?

We have recently had our bathroom walls reboarded and skimmed. The tiles we want are ceramic and slightly too heavy for a skimmed board (in excess of 20kg/m2). Is there some sort of support on the market that can be screwed into the brick behind the board to provide additional support to the...

    Earth query?

Hi, Im fitting a new bathroom and im going to use plastic pushfit pipes/joints. The pipes from the boiler and entering the bathroom are copper and they leave the bathroom via copper pipe. 15mm or 22mm pipes?

Thanks. I've checked the fitting instructions that came with my Worchester boiler. It states the Domestic Water Outlet feed from the boiler should be 15mm. I've checked the manifold and it is designed only to accept 15mm pipes. Im a bit confused how I can therefore use 22mm pipes to feed the...

Advice: Use of loft storage tank for cold feed to shower?

Hi, I am having a new bathroom fitted and am concerned that my new combi boiler will not provide a very powerful shower. The reason i say this is because when i run the hot tap in the bath, the pressure is ok. however, when i turn on the cold as well the hot water pressure drops and i am...

    15mm or 22mm pipes?

Hi, I have replaced my old cylinder with a worcester greenstar 30cdi combi boiler. The old cylinder fed the bath taps using a 22mm pipe that was then reduced to feed all the other taps in the house to 15mm. Should I still use a 22mm pipe on my new bath taps or will 15mm pipes be ok.

plaster board or plaster on to brick?

thanks for the advice. One of the walls is a cavity, the other three are internal single brick walls. Does D&D not suit a cavity wall?. Also what do you mean by using some proper fixings as well as D&D. Thanks again!

New combi boiler but low water pressure.

Not sure what the actual pressure or flow rate is, Ill fill up a bucket and time it. However, the hot water pipe (and the cold) are both 15mm pipes from the boiler, only the central heating uses 22mm pipes. Maybe this may be the problem?.

plaster board or plaster on to brick?

Hi, Im in the process of having a new bathroom fitted and when the old tiles came off, so did the plaster. I have now removed all the plaster and am down to bare brick. New combi boiler but low water pressure.

I've just had a Worcster Bosh CDi30 combi boiler fitted. I have noticed that the water pressure at all my taps isn't as good as my previous gravity fed system. I have seen that the water pipe coming into my house feeds all the cold water taps and then leaves the house into the garage where...
