I have that exact boiler currently sat in pieces on my floor! I was experiencing exactly the same problem and it has been diagnosed as a blocked heat exchanger. Is the front of your boiler getting very hot? Basically the heat/gas wouldn't pass through the exchanger so it was burning back on...

Thanks for the replies, but i'm still confused :lol: There doesn't appear to be any live connection to the circuit. I assume the junction box under the floorboards would also accomodate the live feed normally? Otherwise where would it be connected into the mains?
