    Floorboards on the loft?

The idea to put floorboards is because even though they are dearer once I decide to make the loft conversion I will be able to re-sell these floorboards and wont loose too much money. Whereas nobody buys second hand floor chipboard. so its after market value is almost 0.

    Floorboards on the loft?

Well yep I meant second hand floorboards of course. My idea is to do a loft conversion in a few years time so the floorboards could be used again. I rather spend a bit extra but was worry about the weight/area ratio. Thanks

    Floorboards on the loft?

Normal chipboard loftboards tongue and groove seem to be as heavy as thin normal wooden floorboards. Would it be appropiate to cover the loft with these rather than chipboards from a weight prespective? Thanks

    Drain gutter pipe angle

Yes this option was discussed. But it makes more sense having the pipe out of the way as much as possible. By having the pipe high up is also less visible

    Drain gutter pipe angle

The existing vertical pipe comes from the roof and runs into the wasing machine/diswasher outlet drainage outside the house. I really want to connect them as it wont look nice otherwise. I may try bend the pipe with heatgun

    Drain gutter pipe angle

Hi all thanks for comments. Not sure a heat gun would work. The pipe is quite big. Here is the picture. As you can see the angle of the pipe has to be quite small to avoid the window

    Drain gutter pipe angle

The gutter is currently not set. That is why I sent a picture. Before the extension was made the gutter join was at 45 but we have been forced to chnage the angle to avoid running the pipe in front of the new window. So the angle is now approx as per the drawing

    Drain gutter pipe angle

Hi I just had an extension done and we have added a window. The gutter drain pipe now comes to an angle that does not allow me to use standard angled joins (as per the picture) the gutter pipe has got a squared section. I assume there is an easy solution to this? all the joining bits that I have...

    What duct to use

Hi all, I have just installed my cooker hood extractor fan unit and only need to make the connection to the aluminium ducting that goes into the wall. Q1 Do I have to use aluminium duction for this? I can not find the right diameter in my local DIY shops 125mm. Q2 How do I do the connection...

    Extractor, distance from hub

Thanks, the problem is that my kitchen units are all leveled up. We could probably buy a smaller unit to hold the extractor. About banging my head the extractor cover only two of the four hob rings so we have head clearance... In any case i think i will leave it below the 650mm. what is the...

Smart meters not compatible with underfloor heating

Hi, My gas supplier called me the other day to discuss the possibility to install a smart meter. I was told that because I have underfloor heating the current smart meters are not compatible and that i need to wait until they are. Is this true? and if so why?

    Finishing lead in roof

This picture depicts exactly what I have at the moment. Does it help? My plan is to remove all the flashing (at the moment there are two long bits of around 3mt on each side or my repair) Cut them off into 1.5 mt each and make the overlapping as you suggest above. I will have to buy an extra...

    replacing garage roof.

The flat roof of my extension is made out of chipboard covered by torched down bitumen and felt. Rather than paint i would rather torch bitumen on it. It would last longer

    Finishing lead in roof

Hi last question, i fitted the missing bit but i realized that they did an extremely rubish job. The lead has not been fitted properly into the groove and it comes off very easyly so I will need to replace everything. My question would be is it better to use wider lead like the one I used in...

    Finishing lead in roof

Hi all, My builders left the extension roof lead flashing unfinished as per the pictures. I have the bit of lead and the resin ready to patch the missing bit. However and before doing that I would kindly request any advice that any of you may have on how to do a nice finishing. Thanks in...
