Toro Ultra Blower Vacuum power cord failure

Pleased to say that with a little help from YouTube it's fully functional again. Had to dispense with the original strain relief fitting and devise my own method but hopefully OK for another year or three. @opps that wasn't the case here

Toro Ultra Blower Vacuum power cord failure

wow I really never expected such quick and helpful replies(y) In the meantime I was googling around to see what a direct replacement might cost and found one for an unbelievable £76.80 delivered. The RRP is £159 and even Amazon want £133 so I grabbed it, but I'm definitely not going to just bin...

Toro Ultra Blower Vacuum power cord failure

Thanks for the post. I've had it apart but the euro plug lead and its ribbed shield you can see in the photo are one moulded item that fits into the outer casing to prevent the cable from being strained. I guess someone handier than me could knock up a fix but I doubt I could do it satisfactorily.

Toro Ultra Blower Vacuum power cord failure

My Toro blower/vac power cord has failed internally through constant flexing when in use. Unfortunately it isn't available as a spare but I'm hoping to find someone with a similar machine that may have failed for a different reason, such as motor burnout, might be able to help. Super machine...

    Polypipe question

Great answers, thanks guys. Arthritic hands make jobs like this a bit challenging but I'm going to have a go. Let you know.

    Polypipe question

That was going to be my next question - thanks! But when the guy who had made the error tried to do that he couldn't get them to come apart. Any thoughts on that?

    Polypipe question

Someone trying to help me by fixing loose floorboards has punctured a 15mm plastic pipe carring hot water from combi boiler to a tap. I bought a couple of push-fit joints and some pipe but in repairing it he has omitted to put in two of the four pipe inserts I gave him. I have made sure both...

    Reducing conifer spread

Thanks for the advice. The physical process of pushing or pulling large heavy branches inward and strapping them is quite a challenge in itself. Seems to me that to get a satisfactory result the branches need to be pulled in with some sort of winch arrangement before putting the straps in...

    Reducing conifer spread

Several old conifers lining our drive but they have spread with age and are now obstructing access, the more so after the snowfalls of this last winter. I'm trying to avoid removing the lower branches and hoping I can pull them in and so widen the drive by using straps of some sort. Also got...

    Leak sealers and inhibitors

Well I don't have the luxury of choice, and as F4 has not caused any problems over many years I can only keep my fingers crossed.

    Leak sealers and inhibitors

Easier said than done as it's somewhere under a 6" concrete raft about 50' x 25'. F4 has kept it well under control for more than 10 years, by which I mean losses in this big system are minimal, about 500-600ml (a pint) a month. I think I agree with you about not mixing them though.

    Leak sealers and inhibitors

This is a large house with old iron CH pipework. Minimising leaks and corrosion is expensive - typically we add three F1 and three F4 bottles after a draindown and refill so we have to try to avoid this as far as possible. Last week the automatic air valve on the Vaillant 835 failed and the...

    Crows have destroyed my lawn

For several weeks crows have been pecking at my front lawn, tearing out the grass and moss. I've just spent two days raking it all off with a wire tine rake and can now see that there are several large patches where all grass has disappeared and the rest looks severely battered. Oddly though...

    Shower/bath water turning cold

This only happens in the winter months when ambients are low, <5C. Shower/bath filling start off fine but after a few minutes the cold sometimes overcomes the hot. Overriding the HP shower valve thermostat to increase the hot flow doesn't have any effect. This is an older house with several...

Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

Soon the Karcher K4 stopped hunting and just ran continuously with water pouring out underneath. Repair estimate £160. It has now joined a heap of similar scrap machines at Simms in Stratford upon Avon where I bought a Stihl RE129 Plus. Just no comparison. I'm finished with Karcher.

Thank you John. I'll keep your recommendation for when I need it.

Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

I had time today to test the machine and see what is actually happening. It is pouring water from the bottom of the housing when running and hunting on/off when not running. I rang Karcher and they referred me to a Karcher service agent 20+ miles away who want £15 to quote for repairs and...

Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

Thank you John, that's exactly what it is doing. I'll give them a call in the morning.

Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

No, it's in a heated garage - I'm aware of the danger of frost damage. As I said, the previous one developed exactly the same fault after four years of occasional use. I haven't had an opportunity yet to check it for leaks but that does sound a likely cause. I hear what you say about...
