    Ground works and plumbing

Thanks, I'm doing the planning of the whole thing on this one hence the original question. The foundation and water/drainage sites are opposing sides of the building (10m apart) so i'm fairly sure it should be ok to do the digging all in one go. The water and drain connections on the...

    Short concrete fence posts

Hi all, I'm planning some new fencing, most of the existing fence posts are full height concrete posts so i can just slip some new panels in (hoping they are the correct width) however there is a section of fence, probably 8 panels worth that has timber posts fixed to quarter height concrete...

    Add second story to bungalow?

I don't know why it should be so expensive, but since everyone so far seems to think it will be, take a look at SIP's panels and other roof options like u-roof which go up quickly, it's labour not materials where the most significant costs lie.

The building is only timber (log cabin style) so will not be heavy but is 40m2 so need building regs. I emailed my local building regs people but they are not that helpful, have just said...

    Concrete garage roof

at a guess about 15 degrees. I'd like it to match the house pitch (40 deg) and the eaves height is currently only about 2100mm so it would provide a nicer space to work in.

    Concrete garage roof

hi nose, thanks for the reply. My plan was to replace the whole 24ft long roof and then build a frame inside but only in the rear 10ft or so to make it into a room i can work in. I was really most concerned with stability because the metal truss appears to my eyes to provide most of the...

    Concrete garage roof

Yep thats right, but only about 10ft of the 24ft (at the rear end), i want to leave the rest of it as garage. I know i'll still need to build a frame internally for this section, but i didn't want to have to do that for the whole building, just for the office space area.

    Concrete garage roof

fair comment on the turd, i know it's not ideal :) Are the walls on these not strong enough to support a greater pitch? Why do you suggest full frame? I had considered that as an option, but tbh if i was going to do that I'd replace the whole thing, i dont have a lot of time so was looking for a...
