Thanks for all your suggestions folks, and yep, we’re definitely within the actual TUB here (good idea to say to check though).
I looked into the options you suggested but in the end decided to take the pool down whilst it was still clean.
I’m not taking about cleaning the sides. This is about cleaning the floor where the water depth is 1 metre. It’s the sinking debris (flies, dirt, etc) that collect there and need removing
Hi, I have a 3m diameter x 1m deep surface pool, which we put up each summer and take down again at the end of the season. Due to excessive dry weather here in Hampshire, we have a Temporary Usage Ban coming into effect this week which, amongst other things, bans the use of the mains water...
Dishwasher has just reported E-15, check water light is flashing.
Symptons:-
* Full program fails to finish - goes for about an hour or so then reports E-15
* If left powered off for an hour or 2, it will reset itself and be ok
* Prerinse programme works ok, but try a full wash again and...
I'm just in the process of taking out our one-pipe system rads and replacing the central heating with shiny new two-pipe rads.
So the old stuff - big, heavy single rads. Old looking valves. Is it worth trying to sell them on for "restoration" ... or just get them weighed in at a scrap yard...
Well, the PTFE did the trick nicely. Wrapped it round at least 10 times. And also fitted the tails whilst the rad was still on the floor (as opposed to being mounted in situ on the wall) so that meant I could get some more torque through the spanner.
I'll put more PTFE on then - I had given them 3 or so clockwise amounts - but I'll put a whole load more on and see how it works out.
thanks for the suggestions.
I think I've got the right words here - the little spiggot type thing that connects a radiator to its valve. Is that the "tail"?
Anyway, couple of new rads - bog standard. A set of TRVs + lockshields for each rad. PTFE tape on the threads. Adjustable spanner (12") to tighten up these...
Heating has stopped working. BG engineer visits and diagnoses the problem as being a blockage in the radiator network somewhere. We have an old property with an old one-pipe system, so although BG cover the boiler, they don't cover the rads.
What confuses me is this:- when I run the kitchen...
We have a suspended wooden floor and the cavity underneath has air circulating due to air bricks. So when I put new central heating pipes down there I lagged them all with the grey climaxflex stuff (the 1m long sleeves you get from toolstation as 3-packs).
When I tested this by touch, the...
Yes, as Denso mentions, if you're on a combi then you're pressure will be that of the mains coming off the street - usually around 3 bar, but must vary a lot by time and location. With a combi, your flow rate will be dictated by the boiler - basically the boiler lets the water flow through the...
Is it really a change in pressure that you're seeing? Or a change in the flow rate?
Pressure and flow are two different variables - that took me a while to get my head around, and I did an engineering degree back in the '90s !!
Also, are you on a combi boiler or have you got a hot water tank?
I agree with Tony.
I bought 2 years ago, and an extension had been built at some point prior to that by the owners. When the solicitor asked about this, they only said "it was built more than 10 years ago". Sounded a bit fishy to me, so I asked our surveyor about it. He said he'd spoken to...
Chris R - you were absolutely spot on :D Thanks :D
A friend and I have fitted the manifolds and sure enough the AAV let all the ait out and the boiler is good.
By the way, I've got the missing panel - looks fine although the bottom couple of inches are rotten and there has been some trauma down the side as the wind took it out.
