Plumbers Mait correct? Toilet leaking, when flushed, where bowl meets waste pipe.

Hi all, I have a toilet which has been in situ for a very long time. The seal between the bowl outlet and waste pipe is visibly cracked and leaks when flushed. It also moves which I try reposition it and feels brittle. Do I: 1. leave the seal in place and slather Plumbers Mait over it or 2...

Would this help to improve water pressure?

I actually get 12l/m. There is an outside tap which tees off the mains. Onto that I have a flow meter. That caps out at 11/12 my. So is my issue internal then?

Would this help to improve water pressure?

My house is around 300m from the main road and fed with a 25mm mdpe pipe. It enters my house, runs through a 22mm copper pipe to the boiler and then runs around the house in 15mm pipe. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/051016200/ If someone is in the main shower, opposite side of the house...

Best option to level wonky floorboards?

This is what I've opted for. It's general corners where there is a height gap. There's no (new / current) movement, I've added new screws to all squeaky parts. I drowned it in chalk, dragged a straight edge over it and think this will be OK. Fitters back in two weeks so plenty time to dry.

Best option to level wonky floorboards?

Yes, they did show up through old carpet. I could sand the opposing edges down but that would create a pit which you'd also see I'd have thought. Basically, the floor is uneven and I want to level it.

Best option to level wonky floorboards?

Hi all, I have just ripped up all the carpet to prep for new carpet. The house is an old converted barn with nothing level. A number of the chipboard corners are at different levels. Maybe 5mm tops. No actual movement in the board. Is it better to rip up, pack with spacers and put down new...

Raised deck - want to replace with paving slabs

Hi folks, I have a raised deck outside the rear of the house. The deck is around 1.5m off the ground. The house is listed and stands on a buttressed brick wall (also listed). It's currently around 5m wide and 4m deep (extending out from the house). It's supported by a number of doubled...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Very interesting - thanks. Insulation / rooms in rooms - cannot do at all. Really is no option here :( Roof / I have no ceiling. I have vaulted roof everywhere and explosed oak beams. Not entirely sure what insurlation I have up there but will not be able to improve it. Calcs - Where do you...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Very in. Will take a look. Unable to do any more. External barn is shiplap, internal all exposed 200 year old oak beems. Windows already fairly new double glazed. My only option is more fire hence my wanting to find the cheapest way. I'm jealous of a friend in Ireland, new build house...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

See link above to Panasonic unit. Yes, this is the one in the annex and I want to put the same unit(s) into the house for air. My pondering is, do I use them or water? If there was one which could reliably give me 80c like my dead Dinosaur boiler, perfect. Even if I did use air, what about...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Defrost, I believe (and chimes from what I observed) is the outdoor unit going into reverse. It warms the radiator up slighlty to, well, defrost. I noticed another unit which has an optional 3 or 9kw resistive heating element to aid cold weather. I could not work it out from the specs but the...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Have you seen that in practice and for prolonged periods? I ask because my annex one can operate down to -7.5. Yes, it operates but only just!

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Very interesting - thanks. Challenge will likely be, that 75 is in ideal conditions. See below. It's how the inverter ones work. Variable speed fan and compressor. As it catches up with life, it backs off considerably. Very efficient. This is a challenge. The 5kw one I have in the annex was...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

    Interesting calcs. I "top up" oil 3 times a year and always 1500-2000L @ 79p/L Rads: 3 x 1.4m doubles in the large open spaces and master bedroom. 5 x 600mm bathroom and utility room dump ones 4 x 600mm double along hallway 3 x 800mm doubles in bedrooms 2 x 800mm doubles in lounge 2 x 800mm...

Converting from oil boiler to heatpumps (Air-air and air-water)

Wife demands far more than I... Not sure how to answer your question. In kw? The boiler is, I believe, 25kw.
