Hi all,

I have a toilet which has been in situ for a very long time.
The seal between the bowl outlet and waste pipe is visibly cracked and leaks when flushed. It also moves which I try reposition it and feels brittle.

Do I:
1. leave the seal in place and slather Plumbers Mait over it or
2. can / should I get a replacement seal and reseat it. Do you get a "generic seal" which I can put in without removing the toilet itself?

Thanks

In-between the pan outlet and the fixed soil pipe is a pan connector. If either end of the pan connectors seals are leaking,it needs to be replaced. That involves removal of the wc from the pan connector in order to replace it.

and that means no bodge-jobs of plumber's mait gonna work? :(

I ask as it's all boxed in. All I can see is the seal. No pan connector.

Very unlikely to work. Showing us a pic of your set up would be helpful.
