I cant find a traditional bolt long enough though to go through the 8" unless a threaded bar would be an option? Would coach screws or the TimberLok screws be just as good, or is a bolt through the whole thing a preferred method? I just really thinking about the strength really

I was thinking about screws but as its supporting a raised deck I need it to be strong so think a coachbolt would be better but just not sure which type to use, or maybe something different all together? No it wont be visible so don't care what it looks like!

They will be supporting a raised deck platform and will have met posts concreted into the top to hold the posts. I want the base to be as strong as possible so if that idea won't work then may have to have a rethink

Yes that's correct, the hole is the right size at the bottom but the top is massive where a lot of the loose earth has gone etc & this will take a lot of concrete to fill in so I need to make something that I can fill in with concrete and then back fill the top of the area afterwards with earth etc

Presume this will still work if filling inside the form so as to create a pillar as that's what I need to do?

the height its being raised above those holes is around 600-700mm, that's why I thought it necessary and am enquiring about the strength of the foundations etc

What type of concrete mix would be best for the foundations for this? Would ready mix be suitable (& strong enough) or should I be looking at mixing it myself?
