Answer? Fancy modern mixer taps with a filter mesh at the spout. Completely full of crap. Unscrew the end, clean the filter. Job done.

Sorry, you're right that we don't have a pressurised system in the conventional sense, but I think the immersion heater is pressurised from the mains to give hot water pressure (there are no tanks in the roof).

The boiler is a simple immersion heater - just supplying hot water, with heating from storage heaters.

Right, I've done the searches and found all the useful info on this site and elsewhere about how to clear an airlock. Now it seems to me, if I've got pressure at the shower and flow to the loo (I think), but no hot and cold to the taps in the bathroom and the kitchen, I must have an airlock...

There are flexi-connectors, and they may be kinked, but I would be surprised if they both got kinked so as to reduce the pressure dramatically at the same time. If there's an airlock, how to test and remedy?

Hi, I'm slowly completing a shower enclosure. I've got a Grohe shower arm coming out of the ceiling which has screwed into it a 5" shower head (non-Grohe) using a 3/4" (head end) to 1/2" (arm end) adaptor. The problem is, the threaded end of the Grohe arm is only threaded part way round so...

It is not a massive job to do so as all the floors are up and the walls will need to be redecorated so filling in some chasing is not a problem. Cost of the g/y and bonding straps is inconsequential. No. Because they are incompetent? When was the work done?
