There is a rubber gasket and silicone to seal the joint, what I don't know is whether to remove the plastic bungs in the 3 holes as per the picture :?

Anyone fitted one of the toilets from ALDI from a while back

I bought a toilet and washbasin from aldi a few months back, just getting round to fitting it :? it's a close coupled cistern but the instructions are a little vague, there are 3 plastic bungs in the holes that allow the water into the pan. I thought they were there to stop anything getting...

Removing a radiator so that just the 15mm pipes are left

Any way of removing a radiator so that just the 15mm pipes are left sticking out of the floor without having to drain the whole system. I'm laying tiles in the bathroom and it'd look much neater if I could just drill a 15mm hole in a tile and drop it over the pipe rather than cutting a U...

    Solder Ring Tee valves/ joints

Why not use yorkshire fittings, joints that have the solder already inside them, you just clean the pipe with wire wool, dip the end in the flux, put the joint together and apply heat until you see the solder form a ring around the joint. Only problem is with both ends need to be joined as...

Problem is it's knowing who to trust, I followed a van last week, 54 reg proper signwriting, freephone number on the back looked like a really professional company, yes I followed them, straight onto a gypsy camp  he's been quoted £1500 by one of the big window companies which for...

Cost of guttering, soffits and facias for a small terrace

A mate has just had a quote from one of the big window companies to replace the above, his house is a mid terrace 20ish feet wide, no downspout as that's on the end of the terrace. What would be a reasonable quote to replace all of the above front and back in white plastic, he has a...

A firm I used to collect from(courier) cuts up large sheets of steel with a Plasma laser cutter, they had a safety bullietin from the manufacturer stating that all the safeguards must be in place, light beam in front of the cutter that stops it if broken, status of laser lights on machine etc...

What an option for a new car!

The police call the 1/2 a mile either end of a moving police car "The Safety Zone" because everyone drives as if they were on their driving test. I was a witness to a police car in right place at the right time moment a few weeks ago, mate and I walking to the pub, long straight resedential...

The pump doesn't run when unless you turn the boiler thermostat up then the pump runs and the heating comes back on. there is a motorised valve in the airing cupboard with a lever on it, i'm told this lever should have tension but it just moved back and forward with no tension. The boiler...

    Central heating switching off occasionally

I'm having a problem with my central heating, I presume it's a gravity fed system as there is a cold water tank in the attic, a cylinder in a cupboard and a boiler in the garage. the problem is if I turn the thermostat on the hot water cylinder down the heating goes off :? leave it on...

    Draining hot water tank question

I ended up having to replace the gate valve  I shut it did what I needed to do then tried to open it again and it just kept turning, I then had to syphon all the water out of the cold water tank in the attic into the bath, cut the old olives off and replace the valve. As usual a 20...

    Argos? Aow Gord!

The thing that really annoys me about argos is the way they let you reserve stuff online and then want to charge you a different price when you get to the shop. I reserved a star wars toy for my lad £28.99 online , went to collect it to be told it was £47.99 and I couldn't have it for £28.99...
