if you are doing it yourself, a good rule of thumb for raking out is depth =2 x width

you don't really need it for pointing however it does make your job a wee bit easier, if anything you some lime either one part lime or half part lime to one part cement

dpm and dpc are different, for the time it takes to put another(dpm) one in, i would just do it

I have a retaing wall and patio job to do in April, the customer also wants turf laid. As far as i know you have to rotivate the soil and mix with sand so the turf takes, is this true, how much sand? Any tips, potential pitfalls? I have no experience of this so any help whatsoever is appreciated.

i would charge you about £30 a metre to rake out and repoint but i hate repointing and it's a semi-skilled job so you'll get it cheaper
