Sockets and switches jutting out from wall

I have a problem with most of the sockets and switches that have been installed in my flat. The original electrician installed the holders (?) flush (see pics) but the replacement guy installed them jutting out from the wall (drywall) a couple of mm. This has led to an ugly gap between the...

    Three-phase system - circuit allocation

Thanks for the replies. Attached is a pic - after asking around a but more, I found out that (as MikeR said) it is indeed a bus bar which allocates circuits to phases on a consecutive basis. I am not happy leaving this as is - firstly as it's my house I want to know what's connected to...

    Three-phase system - circuit allocation

Building a new flat, and the power supply is 3 phase 3X25A. My contractor changed the electrician half-way through the job. The previous electrician was going to wire all the phases together (to my understanding in effect simulating a 75A connection) The new guy is a bit of an #$@%...

fixing concrete railing posts to balcony

I ran some figures on using sleeved anchor bolts, assuming I had 2000 psi concrete to attach to. Having only 20cm available to bolt to the wall edge gave me too big a moment (at least according to my calcs....) - I could have added some struts fixed to the inside lip, but I wasn't too happy...

fixing concrete railing posts to balcony

I am taking on a metal railing for a concrete balcony. The widest edge is 5m long, with no side (wall) supports. (//www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=285380....) Up until now I had planned to drill 200m into the concrete ledge and anchor the posts that way. A friend suggested that I...

Help - unsure about what to use.. painting new metal railing

Correct, the railings are new and untreated. That's why I thought of painting with Hammerite for galvanized directly - is that not possible ? If I go ahead and paint with a red oxide primer first, do I need to do anything besides clean/degrease ? Thanks D.

Help - unsure about what to use.. painting new metal railing

Hi, I need to paint a balcony railing that's a real mix of metals (all new and unpainted). 1. Cold-galvanised metal profiles 2. Hot- galvanised metal strips (a little bit of chips in the galv layer at edges) - these have some flexibility to move (over a 500 mm length they can bend a...
