Prop requirements for opening Cavity Wall

Thanks for the reply. I had not heard of this technique. I have looked at your literature and it would be useful if there were some videos showing the beaming process for opening a wall up. I have purchased the IBeams and props for the job so I will be going ahead with this method.

Prop requirements for opening Cavity Wall

I am hopefully going to be installing two Universal Beams 178x102x19 (recommended by a SE report) to open up a cavity wall. I have installed new doorway openings in my home in single and cavity walls, using strong boys but I would like to approach this using wooden needles. I am wondering if...

    Gutter Position

I have completed work on a small side extension to my house and all that is left is the guttering. Am I OK to fit the gutter as shown in the photo, or do i need to extend it past the gable ends?

    Wall Plate Height

Thanks woody. I had not factored in these items. Do building regs demand an eaves tray and eaves vent? So I should be aiming for something like this (but with a flush finish for my fascia as i dont want to over hang too much).

    Wall Plate Height

I have ordered all my tiles. Ended up with these double roman in rustic. I am just spending some time working out the gauge for the lath battens. This may seem a silly question but does the first row of tiles sit on the fascia board that is nailed to the end of the rafters? If so do you...

    Wall Plate Height

The side wall has three windows. I was hoping to go one brick under with the flashing. Do i need cavity tray along the full length ot the wall or can I get away with the just open wall areas? I attach a photo showing the wall in question.

    Wall Plate Height

I am building a small side extension and hopefully roofing it soon. I am trying to work out the maximum pitch I can achieve. The side of the house has windows with a brick window ledge underneath. I would like to start the flashing at the mortar line under these windows and follow across...

    Installing lintel into existing wall

Thanks Tomfe. The window you can see in the photo is being opened up. A Structural Engineer is designing some steels. Two for the cavity wall (one for each cavity leaf) to support the load above and one vertical steel to be installed against the inside face of the corner return. The vertical...

    Installing lintel into existing wall

Thanks for the reply. So open up the Cavity along the green line to make an opening suitable for the new lintel? Or open the full length of the wall cavity? I believe i need 150mm of the end of the lintel to be baring into the wall. How much brick work can i remove before impact the corner...

    Side Extension Brick Work

The existing house brick work has been painted several times over the years so I was thinking of meshing that in order to render it. So I will probably end up using a mesh system on the extension and the existing house and then rendering the lot. The main reason I thought about using Aircrete...

    Side Extension Brick Work

Thanks tomfe. I like this post about fixing batons along the existing DPC to allow the bellcast bead to rest onto allow for rendering up to DPC. One other question. I am building a one storey extension with a 100mm cavity wall. It would appear block makers indicate that a 3.6N celcon block can...
