    Point taken Martin. However he wants to screen kitchen over underfloor heating and then turn heating on low to dry out screed before vinyl floor is fitted. Several people have told me this is a no-no. He has badly over-run and I think he just wants out. Good idea about BC + builder

    building inspector also didn't notice that the plates holding the two halves of the beam supporting the back wall of the house had 5 missing bolts and the uprights were not bolted to the floor or fixed back to the walls

    Bobasd the second photo shows where he has bitumined the "skirting". the floor is waiting for insulation and skim. woody, I am preferring your first option it rained again yesterday and water came through coating! Builder back in again and hopefully getting better fix. thanks for advice...

    when the floor slab was cast some of the polythene membrane disappeared into the concrete. when we had a lot of rain last week we had a puddle on the floor by the low level window. The builder has coated the inside of the floor and the thermalite blocks that weren't covered by the membrane...

    Thanks for both replying. Span is 12'. Taken paper of ceiling from room underneath and thought someone had come through as there are lots of (poor) patching. Will drop supports off the purlin you can see in the photo and the next one up to the joists.

    Need to fit bathroom fan and light but switch must be dual so that I can also have a kitchen light switch. Can't find dual DP switch to wire fan as shown in sticky. Is this method OK? I appreciate that when I use FSU to isolate fan I also isolate light. Guess only work on it in daylight...
