Worcester 28i - bleeding and lockout

Embarrassing - it turns out there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the boiler - the reset button was sticky and not resetting the boiler out of lockout. At least, all good!

Worcester 28i - bleeding and lockout

Hmm, no joy. Will try once more tomorrow in case it's because it's so cold out & it's the condensate pipe after all... Fingers crossed. Thanks!

Worcester 28i - bleeding and lockout

So - tonight for some reason, I had the bright idea to bleed my radiators. During bleeding, my boiler pressure dropped below 1 bar (& the fault light started blinking once a second which indicates a lockout, I gather). So I topped the boiler up back up to 1.5bar. All radiators (except two towel...

Disconnecting accent LEDs in ceiling downlighter unit

I can't speak for the accent LEDs but the halogen (well, now LEDs) bulbs are 240V GU10s. But now you mention it, looks like the live/neutral cables on the left of the 'power distribution block' is mains so it could indeed be a 12V power supply...

Disconnecting accent LEDs in ceiling downlighter unit

In my flat, I have a pair of ceiling downlighters that have blue accent LEDs that I would like to disconnect. https://imgur.com/a/z0lK034 In the second picture, they are the four live/neutral cables on the right of the power distribution block. What is the safe way of going about this - cut...

Options for replacing a Worc. Digistat with something smarter

Thanks! That sorta answers what I was wondering. There isn't much space around the boiler (it's inside a custom cabinet thingy) but its good to know it's not necessarily a significant wiring job - with wires all the way across the flat to a traditional "in the middle of the flat" location. I'd...

Options for replacing a Worc. Digistat with something smarter

I am not sure where I have implied I wanted to do the work myself - my very first line of my post was clear that I would be asking someone to carry out the work. Is it so bad or wrong that I want to be informed and educated of what kind of work and holes in the wall I would be seeing an...

Options for replacing a Worc. Digistat with something smarter

But would these fit inside where the current receiver is (inset in boiler) - or would the gas engineer need to blank the location of the old receiver and wire up a separate thermostat elsewhere in flat? I see the Honeywell T6R is wireless but I'm guessing the receiver unit still has to be wired...

Options for replacing a Worc. Digistat with something smarter

Am not "competent" so this is more just knowing my options before I go asking gas engineers once things are more back to usual.. I have a Worcester 28i Junior with a wireless Digistat (similar to this one but not the Optimiser version). My biggest bugbear, and from what I can gather, a fairly...

Disposing of old boiler water pressure switch

Perhaps a bit of an unusual one but... So - a while back, my plumber repaired my Worcester boiler & left behind the broken Bosch water pressure switch. Is there any point in recycling this (local waste tip) or just chuck it in the bin? Or a better way of disposing of it?

Lifting up tongue & groove floorboards temporarily?

Thanks! It's possible it'll be an insurance job (as part of "Trace & access") so I might get a pro floor fitter in... But good to know my options. The laminate's approx 16-18mm thick. Not man-made boards - it's almost certainly concrete underneath (building built in the early 70s) but honestly...

Lifting up tongue & groove floorboards temporarily?

Ha - this is my place unfortunately - otherwise I'd not be on here! :)

Lifting up tongue & groove floorboards temporarily?

Long story short - I live in a flat. Suspected leaking water pipe under floor although floor itself is dry. The plumber has said that to get to where the leak is properly, he would have to lift up the carpet, the PU foam underlay and cut through the wooden floor to the concrete underneath. He's...

Educate me on what sort of setup I've got?

I don't want to touch the cylinder stat - it's in an awkward location. (it's actually inside the wall, in a tiny alcove(!)). I don't mind considering swapping the Drayton RTC roomstat - only concern is that I've been unable to determine which model it is on account of being so ancient. As a...

Educate me on what sort of setup I've got?

It's a bit tricky to get a decent picture of the valve. If you can give me an idea of what you're hoping to see, then I could do my best to take a picture or describe... To the other posters - close :) I'm in St Albans, and yes, the water's rather hard here! Regarding the two power...

Educate me on what sort of setup I've got?

Sorry! I forgot to mention the programmer and you're spot on correct that it is a Landis & Gyr RWB2. Er.... What? *looks more carefully* Oh!!! There's two "thingy" - see new pics. Are these what you meant? The 3rd pic is to show the valves(?) in relation to the rest of the system...

Educate me on what sort of setup I've got?

Hello all, Recently, I moved into this flat. After about a month, I was rather surprised to find out that in a little under a month and half, I seem to have used 112 metric units for a one bedroom flat  and according to another forum, this seems to be a little excessive. However...
