Thank you very much for the advice. My OH did exactly this and it eventually came back to the copper finish. He used a combination of Brasso and Cif. Obviously I didn't have sufficient elbow grease! We'll now keep on top of it to keep it clean and shiny.
Hello. Any ideas on how I can clean the metal threshold on our front doorstep? I think it's original 1930s and is very badly tarnished - dirty green marks. I've tried sanding and metal and copper cleaners but nothing touches it. I'm at the stage of thinking I'll just have to paint over it...
I meant that I was told a combi Viessmann boiler would be the same 35kw as the conventional if we wanted to change to combi.
Current boiler is a Potterton Netaheat 80e. The stated output is between 17-23kw. We do have to use the immersion heater when there's 4 or more adults in the house. It...
Our house is a pretty standard 4-bed 1930s (not that well insulated, no cavity walls).
Compareboilerquotes also recommend this size:
21-40kw Regular Boiler, radiators 11-20 (we have 15), bathrooms 1-4 (we have 2), occupants 4-8 (we have up to 4).
Atag get fantastic reviews (3,850/90% excellent) on Trustpilot with so many comparing the quality of their parts (stainless steel, brass) to Worcester etc. and they're one of the most popular suppliers in Europe. Apparently the parts are becoming more easily obtainable here and with their 12...
What about using the online boiler comparison sites. Has anyone had a bad experience with their fitters?
If I go with a local tradesman should I purchase the boiler myself or ask for an all-in quote?
I would if I was sufficiently keen to changeover. However I think it's easier to keep to traditional as partner won't be happy if I push for a combi it and it goes horribly wrong!!
That's what I thought but even the Atag boiler finder where you enter all your details says it is. OH doesn't like the idea of changing over even though it will free up a bit of space.
Hi
Our 30-odd year old Potterton Netaheat boiler has stopped working (fan works but it's not firing).
I've decided not to bother throwing good money after bad and paying someone to come and look at it having cancelled British Gas Homecare some years ago.
I've done some research and it seems...
My daughter's bathroom tiler cannot remove the mosaic wall tiles after working on them with a jackhammer all day. He says they've been individually fixed and has asked if they can be tiled over. She's really not happy about this but said he's tried very hard. Is there any way of removing them...
Poor boy that's terrible, I will definitely be aware of this. Hope he fully recovered. One of ours likes to nose in the pull-out larder and we have to be careful to check before slamming it shut.
I think we'll start with bungee cords and experiment with the lengths and if that doesn't work try the previous suggestion. (Cats are indoor so it's to keep them in while allowing enough fresh air!)
Thanks to all for being so helpful, really appreciated.
