My thoughts on this at the moment are what effect does light sensor have on operation during day - even though switch inside is on could there be a situation where lamp does not switch on due to light level?

OK just to make things even more confusing - wifey says all now working as should - can only think that sensor iffy. but what about 230v on switched side -!!!!

As i've found out many times in my job - should have found how its works when all was working - ie what circuit feeds what - as now its lot harder.

Yes im going down that route but i like to know what problems are - i only change like for like and was going to change the switch for a chrome one but will not do until this problm resolved.

Lighting circuit im presuming though haven't found where live to pir comes from yet.

They are the R7 78mm type 150W i think - fitting aappears ok - must say previous light had well blown.

No new light unknown state but when i checked voltage at light fitting - 0v.

Can't get to circuit till tomorrow . measured to earth using simple small multimeter obtained from argos.

There must be 240v at light or pir during normal use to switch it on when sensed.

OK what i should say is it will not tighten when 2 wires placed in it and it must be a recurring problem cos about 50% of switches i've ever removed have had loose wires. Palacefatboy

Thanks thats what i've done on one dimmer with deep back box however one back box is just 25mm deep so that poses a problem. Any suggestions other than replace back box which cant be done. Thanks again Palacefatboy
