Cheers guys! I do have a dremel... didnt think of that! its got some very fine cutting disks aswell - cheers Madrab for reminding me. Shower bar trims.

Hello all Not sure if anyone can help, I've fitted a shower bar in the bathroom and stoopidly I didnt take into account the thickness of the tiles. So when I screw the trim covers on before attaching the bar itself it doesnt leave enough thread to attach the bar and seal on the washers.. Has...

    Bathroom extractor through tile-hung dormer?

Cheers guys! - the roofer said the dormer was to small to get a tile vent in... not sure why... I thought it was just a case of taking one tile out and swapping it for the vent? :? The soffit and fascia are pretty small but I've seen a slimline vent that I was going to have another look at...

How does this soundproofing quote sound?

Ah fantastic news that the sound wall worked! - there's nothing worse than noise from next door... it grates on you and slowly winds you up! :D We had the same, you could hear them talking, coughing, TV etc. Yeah the underlay/db-plasterboard could help in your loft, sounds like you might...

How does this soundproofing quote sound?

I know this thread is pretty old, but I imagine people search this topic pretty often, so I thought I'd post my experience with soundproofing from purely a DIY scenario. We had a problem with noise coming through a party wall, there was no way I was going to pay huge prices for something I...

    Bathroom extractor through tile-hung dormer?

Hello all, I'm in the middle of a loft conversion at home, dormers are on, roof is tiled, structure signed off, floor and partitions are going in. But I'm a bit confused as what to do about extraction in the bathroom? Its a bit limited on roof space, and I didn't really want to climb...

Open fire with a flue system possible?

Hello all. We're in a bit of a dilemma, we're mid loft conversion, the roof is half tiled and we've been possibly looking at installing a log burner while what will be upstairs was a blank canvas... it would increase the size of the bedrooms too as we would remove the humongous chimney...

    pipes through joist

I've hit this same dilemma... I'm doing a loft conversion and subsequently have a heap of pipes and cable to run through joists including a 28mm gas pipe.. If I'm reading that document correctly I only have 200mm to install all my pipe and electricals? 0.45 from the plate/bearer and then 0.25...

    Garage question?

Hi ricicle - really appreciate your help! Errrmmm the lights are running off the same connection... there seems to be some Junction boxes and switches pinching power off the main feed. They're powering two 5ft florescent strip lights and I guess what was the original single lamp. Heater...

    Garage question?

Hello... just wanted a quick bit of advise.. :) I have a garage separate from the house and it has what looks to be a reasonably new 'Radial' circuit running to it... I've built a home office in the end of it and didnt really think much about the power... I just studded it out and mounted...

Upvc door installed on a carpet threshold?????

Yeah that looks like its going to be a nightmare to get out... I hope they haven't put a frame fixing through the bottom of the door too... that would make it even tougher... but yes you definitely need to get rid of that or it will rot the floor boards out.... I can only suggest a chisel...
