Oil boiler / heating working fine. Water only tepid

Thanks - one other question - mostly when I push the Manual override lever to get some HW there is resistance - but yesterday morning there was none, suggesting the valve had opened ~ today its back to previous form. Probably need to change the actuator anyway but this would seem tosuggest...

Oil boiler / heating working fine. Water only tepid

I'm happy to change the whole actuator if that's easier - think I can get similar one for about £45. Question is though can I do this without draining the system? Thanks for your help

Oil boiler / heating working fine. Water only tepid

Thanks Boilerman 2. I have traced the fault I think to the actuator on the Hot water feed (there is a separate one for the CH) When the Programmer is on for HW and the manual override switch is used the boiler fires. However the switch appears to be spring loaded so it won't stay in position...

Oil boiler / heating working fine. Water only tepid

I have an oil boiler that seems to be working fine in terms of heating the house but less well in terms of the water which in the last few days is only lukewarm I have an immersion heater which seems to work ok so I'm guessing its not a thermostat issue on the HW cylinder. I am wondering...

Best way to fix laminate edging to skirting

Could use nomorenails or similar but wanted something that would do the job - but not ruin the skirting if I ever want to take it off. Would the laminate flooring glue do the job? Thanks

    Laminate question

Thanks PB. The floors not complete so we could 'easily' lift the floor as suggested and the good news is that it seemed pretty solid. The downside of that is that because the joins have all been glued the length that is not quite locked in has remained solidly that way. So worth a try but...

    Laminate question

Thanks PrenticeBoy. Part of the floor is under the door frame now which might be a problem - but are you saying lift the floor - pop the joint out and then refix ~ assuming the glue will allow?

    Laminate question

Have been laying a laminate floor over concrete where the whole row needs connecting lengthwise before locking into the boards already laid. I have also been gluing the joins. Fitting around the door frames was quite tricky and I have noticed that one of the joins hasn't quite slotted in -...

    not a smooth finish!

Hi - have repainted some white gloss woodwork. Rubbed down the old coat and brush painted an undercoat. Rubbed that down and painted a dulux non drip gloss topcoat. Needed another coat so rubbed that coat down and put a final coat of non drip gloss on with a brush. Obviously hoovered and wiped...

Thanks - will try that in the morning - take it that might be wear and tear rather then weather related

    Camray Quartet 9/110

Well I'm not sure if its the bioler or the fuel pump I can hear but when its switched off it sort of powers down - so not abrupt - assuming what I am hearing is the fuel pump

    Camray Quartet 9/110

Thanks - would I not hear the noise at other times when the boiler was on - rather than just when it fires up from cold in the morning? I wondered whether it was in any way related to the cold weather?

    Camray Quartet 9/110

I have the above quite old but regularly serviced oil boiler Over the last couple of weeks it has sometimes (but not always) made a sort of 'pinking' sound for a minute or two when starting up from cold in the morning or when fired up during the night by the frost stat. Otherwise its fine...

    Drayton Lifestyle LP522 Boiler Programmer

Thanks all - no cat but I have had a response from Drayton the progremmer manufacturer, who thinks its unlikely 3 programmers would have failed and suggest ''It would seem that perhaps you have some sort of electrical interference that is perhaps causing a failure over a period of time. This...

    Drayton Lifestyle LP522 Boiler Programmer

Thanks londonboy. I suppose my question is if this has been relaced before is it a recurring problem with the programmer ~ or is there something more fundamental with the wiring? Obviously dont want to fork out for another programmer only to find that I have the same problem. Any views welcome
