    Questions about storage rads.

Thanks for your continued interest in this. wgt - We're of the same mind S21 already served although here in Wales, the Assembly Govt requires we give 6 MONTHS NOTICE under their COVID rules. Don't expect I'll be getting any more rent but any work that I can get done in advance of the place...

    Questions about storage rads.

I was about to say that Blue Loo was being harsh and judgemental but SUNRAY said it for me!! Thank you. In fact, thanks to everyone who posted. They say that true wisdom lies with those who ask questions so I have just popped back with an update. I eventually secured access to the...

    Questions about storage rads.

Just to reassure you Harry, I wasn't suggesting that. I just want to see what works and what doesn't!!

    Questions about storage rads.

Thanks again for your post No 2 John. Understood re the cable. At the very least I have enough to test the system properly and gently challenge the council.

    Questions about storage rads.

That's interesting John, would that mean that given the age of the system, the main consumer unit is on 24/7 and also benefits from E7 but the heating one is somehow triggered by the E7 periods and is only live at that time?

    Questions about storage rads.

Harry, I thought as much! However, I can't see that anything that holds heat will be able to discharge it in a controllable way (and get the council off my back) Although to be fair, the council's Officer is a pleasant lady, being as helpful as she can).

    Questions about storage rads.

Brilliant responses, thanks very much. Blue Loo..... I'd love to but electrical 'wet' systems don't impress me much. Would help if she was a good tenant and paid her rent on time! EFL........ I had assumed that the heating circuit would be 2.5 cable like the ring main but from what you...

    Questions about storage rads.

Thanks very much Flameport. Great advice. That's very plausible. I do know that the previous tenant had the Electricity provider out because they stopped working and they re-synced the meter for the off peak periods. Yes, there is a new meter since then. Just for investigative purposes then...

    Damp garage

I have heard that tanking slurry is a good bet for dealing with this problem. Messy but it works.

    Questions about storage rads.

We have a 2 bed, 80's build flat on 2nd floor. No gas available. Backstory is that we've operated it as a BTL for 10 years or more, no real probs. Just before Christmas tenant phones to say "The heating isn't working." We provided some oil filled rads to meet the emergency until I could...

    How is this possible?

IMHO there's something wrong with the geometry of the roof. Because the sides are not equal there is no scope for 45degree cuts or even equal angles on the 2 sides. I am not a roofer but if it were my house I would try and make a feature out of it by putting in a skylight and finishing around...

    Furniture Restoration

Looks to me, judging by the plinth, that it is not particularly old. So I reckon veneer on MDF or maybe HDF, with a solit timber rim. You could try to inlay new timber but easier to sand the lacquer off the rim, then repair the damage with wax crayon (The sort sold for furniture repair which are...

When there's not enough space for your drill.....

The angle drive which is frequently on offer in Lidl at 4.99 has served me well so far. 20+ 15mm holes through 100mm timber and no sign of it wearing out.

Help need to revive old UVPC windows as can't replace...

Burnerman is right about Traffic Film Remover. Dilute it about 10:1 in a spraybottle and use a 'bathbrite' sponge fron Wilkinsons. Wash it off afterwards though, because it can stain the glass if left to dry. Finish with T-Cut and car wax polish.

    Foodgate: what is next?

I'd say the real scandal here is the perfectly edible food being 'withdrawn from sale' and presumably destroyed. At less than half price but clearly labelled I would have no hesitation in filling my freezer!

    DIY Exstention

Sorry if my maiden post on here has a suggestion which may seem a bit 'Cowboy' to some of you...... But I would scrounge myself a bay of heavy duty pallet racking. Weld the joints for extra strength and cut off the surplus of the uprights. Rawlbolt the right hand one to the brick pier and...
