    Kitchen tiles & odd sealant

Photos as requested: And I used LTP colour intensifier and stain block. The finish is strange. Water doesn't soak in, it sits on the surface bubbled up, but then when removed it leaves behind a water mark.

    Kitchen tiles & odd sealant

Howdy folks, Ok, we moved into our house last year, and the kitchen tiles were already down. The files are black and appear slate like in colour, but when you look at them side on they're more like ceramic with a slate layering on top (can provide photos if needed). They were badly stained...

Breakdown of how to paint garage door?

Going to dig this up again now the weather is better, as it was never really resolved. So, got a steel ungalvanised garage door that needs painting, is there a breakdown anywhere of the best way to do this, and what products are best to use?

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Wickes sell 18mm thick hardwood ply in 2440x1220 for £35, can cut to whatever size you need and then paint/stain it your desired colour. Then Ikea sell desk legs for £2.50 a pop

Best wood to use for workbench top?

The depth of the unit is 75cm, so chipboard flooring and kitchen worktop are unfortunately not wide enough. I've found hardwood ply that is the required size for £35, which is an option. Would untreated 18mm chipboard be sufficient? This is around £16 for the required size.

Best wood to use for workbench top?

Morning fella, yesterday I built myself a new workbench: Now, I just need to sort the material for the top. The shelf underneath will just be MDF, as it's only going to be storing spare wood, paint cans etc. A friend of mine built a similar bench and used hardwood ply for the top...

    Soffit vents

This can be closed now, I've found some stiff mesh material that'll do the job. I just have to grow the balls to climb to the top of the ladders now!

    Soffit vents

Usually yes, but the only mesh I can find is either very flimsy (and likely to bend, alot) or comes in rolls of 100m, I need around 6m. I'm thinking of just buying some thicker sheet mesh and cutting it to size, at least it should hold it's shape whilst being cut.

    Soffit vents

I'd like to avoid overboarding if possible. We're only likely to be in this house another 2yrs or so, so really just want to re-mesh the holes to stop the birds.

    Soffit vents

Howdy folks, Firstly, some background. The house was built in the mid 80's, and the soffits are just thin wood. There are vents in the soffits, but these are basically just wire mesh placed over rectangular cut outs in the wood. The mesh has basically had it, and birds are starting to get...

Breakdown of how to paint garage door?

Thanks for the replies guys. When I originally posted I had heard the weather and temperature was supposed to be improving this week, evidently that has not been the case and I've decided to leave the door until later in the year and spend my time off building myself a new garage workbench...

Breakdown of how to paint garage door?

Howdy chaps, Right then, if the weather stays decent I'm hoping to paint the garage door over the easter break. It's currently a white colour, and the paint rubs off to touch, almost as if its an emulsion, or an untreated primer, neither of which would surprise me given some of the bodges...
