ahhhh "dual code" user option. ok-kokey. all you guys have been terrific. really appreciate the help. i've given texecom staff a lot of aggro as well! :D you'll all be pleased to know that i'm probably 95% to 99% done and won't have to put up with me any longer!

i did set up XXXX through wintex. hmm, ok, i'll delete that user and create another one through the keypad and see how that works out. ta.

texecom "enter next code to access system"

i've setup a new user, eg XXXX, usercode 987654. XXXX is a super-duper user type - can do everything - tho i'm really using it to arm and disarm the alarms as part of the test procedure. so, i armed the system. then walked in front of the pir and sure enough the alarms went off. i typed...

    window shock sensors

i have upvc windows. i don't have knowledge/skills to hide cables inside the plastic framework. and i'd rather not have bits of cable stuck onto the framework. i suppose i could get wireless shock sensors, eg texecom impaq plus-w. but then, i'd have to get ricochet expander kit as well...

    Alarm for new house

i'm not an expert, but i'll throw my tuppence worth in...... if you get a texecom panel, go for one of their veritas ones. veritas should be enough for a home system. don't make the mistake i made and get one of their premier range of panels. those are really for factories / offices /...

    window shock sensors

got a reply from friedland stating that the ML2 do not go into sleep mode. ok, i'm going to take a gamble and get a few of those and see how it works out.

    alarm and phone wires

pcaouolte - wintex network error is 0000 (4 zeroes). will try the things you've suggested. waiting for local OAPs to wake up before i start testing. don't want to give them a heart attack with sirens blaring away! :)

    window shock sensors

europlex - that's exactly why i'm asking whether these types of units go to sleep or not. if they do go to sleep, then they are useless in my view. bernardgreen - yes, the ML2 is a standalone unit and has no connections to a control panel. i have pirs inside the house. i wanted...

    window shock sensors

are standalone window shock sensors worth it? eg, Friedland ML2 and similar. what i want to know is whether they go into sleep mode to preserve battery life? and if so, how long are they asleep at a time? are there are standalone window shock sensors that do not go into sleep mode...

    texecom keypad zone help

good, you confirmed my suspicions. thank you. i did an internet search for my Q, and there was only a little bit of information here and there. hence, why i raised the Q here. the strange thing is, i'm getting keypad tamper faults and cannot see the reason for it. ah well, back to the...

    texecom keypad zone help

i have a texecom 48 panel and a texecom lcd keypad. i've connected the network connections on the keypad to network connections in the control panel. so far, so good. do i have to connect the zone in the keypad (labelled "A" [alarm] and "T" [tamper]) to a zone in the control panel...

    alarm and phone wires

ok, thanks. i'm getting tamper errors on the keypad and just wanted to check whether copper wires had anything to do with it. so, onto the next thing to check. oh joy! :D

    alarm and phone wires

i've used "alarm wires" - piddly individual silver coloured wires - to connect pirs to the control panel. i had a spare "phone wire" - copper wire - which i've used to connect a keypad to the control panel. my question: is it ok to use "phone wire"? or will the resistance be too great for...

please help me put together a texecom system

yup, that is also what i figured by texecom's "zones" and "areas". so we agree on that - phew! :D and your idea of "part sets" seem great as well. thank you.

please help me put together a texecom system

i agree with you both (pcaouolte & sparkymarka)... well mostly. hee hee upstairs & downstairs: yup, everyone gets that. now for the front & back bit. i live in a semi which has a side extension. i do a lot of gardening and will only use the side extension and garden area. hence i...

please help me put together a texecom system

sparkymarka, not trying to start a flame war with you or anyone else. all i'm after is information. hence i repeat, where/how can i find out if AMQDs are hardwired or not? i don't want to deviate from that question. thanks.
