    Hot water temp guage?

Thanks for the advice. A general indication of temperature will be fine so I'll give those a go.

    Hot water temp guage?

Hi, Not even sure if this is a thing so sorry if a waste of time! I have viridian solar thermal which works pretty well and gives me hot water most of the year, but over winter can be a bit hit & miss dependent on the skies. While I can set the temp the solar will heat to, and I can obv. do...

    Water softener advice

Hi, I am looking to purchase a water softener to help out my wifes & daughters execma skin conditions, but there are so many options, and so much rubbish out there that I cannot figure out what is a decent system to buy. Either want a whole house solution, or at the least, one I can fit for...

Are whole house filters any good?

Thank you for the guidance! I did think it was cheaper then I expected tbh. Shame! I think its a relatively hard water area, tbh I have no idea about this stuff.

Are whole house filters any good?

Hi, Both my daughter and wife suffer from exzema, prior to our current house it wasn't that bad for either, but in the new house it has been flaring pretty badly for both of them - doctors aren't much help with any treatments being temporary. I have been told about whole house filters offering...

Boiler banging on firing up, smell of gas at flue

Yeah, I have seen that ideal isn't great sadly, but it came with the house - house is 4 years old. I got the boiler serviced last year, and told the plumber then, but he said he couldn't figure it out without a video, I have made sure I have one this time

Boiler banging on firing up, smell of gas at flue

I'll start by saying I have a plumber booked for Friday, I wont mess with gas. This is just to get a general idea of what it could be. When we turn our gas fired boiler on (ideal heat 12) it bangs loudly as it fires up - if your standing outside by the flue it sounds like a gunshot and...

Correct tool to cut concrete edging?

I need to cut 3 pieces of flattop edging but don't have the appropriate tool - is an angle grinder the right tool? Bit confused by the blades if it is - I see stone blades, but they look very wide, is diamond the right type? Anyone able to point me in the right direction? The edging is the...

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across so annoyed in my post, you have been helpful. Your right in that I can clean it up each time, and in theory taking the soil out and replacing with chipping or stones will work, I suppose I am annoyed with the builders because in every other industry if you...

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

No sh*t Sherlock  Done that several times already, its a temporary solution as the ground is angled towards the house, and if I replace the soil with pebbles for example, the pebbles will have to be steeply angled away from the drive towards the house, and I will forever be repairing the...

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

Ok, thanks - least I know where I stand re dpc and airbricks. I do beg to differ re the muddy ground, but I suspect the builders wont see it the same way!

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

To be honest, if the builders remove the grass and replace with chips or gravel I would be happy enough - more then happy to be realistic with my expectations. DPC is impossible to see, but the airbricks are just under 70mm from the ground, if they are within limits - then fine, but I hope...

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

Sorry, shoddy pictures, but difficult for me to be home in daylight until the weekend! Pic 1 showing the hazing where the rain is splashing the mud back - more obvious in daylight, also I washed it recently trying to reduce how awful it looked Pic 2 trying to show the angle, I couldn't...

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

House is 18 months old, builders not on site anymore but are coming back to take a look and hear my complaint under warranty. Havent got photos on me but will take some tonight if it shows under flash. Assuming a head on one showing the tidal mark on the wall, and a side one showing the angle?

Do rules exist about angling rain fall away from house?

Bit of a random one - I have an issue where the drive is angled up towards the house, the builders have then built a small grassy slope down towards the house. The two issues - the airbricks are too low which I have found the NHBC regs for, the other is that when it rains, the slope gets...

    Quote sanity Check

I have a boiler, and a thermal hot water system, I have never had both serviced before - just received a quote from a company for £160+vat to service both. (65 boiler, 100 solar) I looked online and British Gas offer boiler for £40 odd which is cheaper, but I am struggling to find solar panel...

    Couple of quick questions

I cant see the dpc sadly, the builders claim they made the corner higher to make this not an issue - but I have caught them out on a few lies so am sceptical. Definately going to go down the gravel/chippings route now, its just a bog that is never going to dry out otherwise
