    Resin alternative to shield anchor

Hi Wayners, thanks Hi foxhole, my apologies I should have said, it’s a wall bracket for fitness training. I’ll be honest I don’t really know the difference between the different types of expansion bolts / anchors etc. Only ever used plugs & screws. I didn’t want to crack a brick or end up...

Twin slot shelving in bare brick garage

Hi all - just to close my own thread – all done. It involved a bit of panning with the upright spacing. Had to reduce from 600mm to 550 mm spacing to avoid vertical mortar joins. (and a 2200mm shelf span instead of 2400mm) But in the end happy I could do it! Thanks again for all your help.

    Advice please on masonary paint

Hi Wayners / sparkwright, thanks Yes please, it's a 1980's house. I'll try & test the render hardness. If feels hard then assume sand and cement & any water based masonry paint will be fine. If feels softer then assume silicone & go with something more breathable. Does that sound about...

Twin slot shelving in bare brick garage

Hi all Thank you for your replies and advice, most appreciated! Correct please, the uprights have 4 fixing holes. I *think* I've understood how shims / packers work - they provide a gap to keep the upright plumb & stop distorting.....but hopefully I won't need them. One last Q if I may...

Hi guys I have some wood paneling and MDF cupboards in the bathroom which were previously painted / varnished. I've roughly sanded the surface (not all the way back to the wood) to provide a key, and I was wondering if a water based satinwood would be suitable for a bathroom please? Or do...

Advice on re-pointing brickwork below hacked off render #pic

Hi Tony The black paint is not something I've done myself, and it's been on there for years. Do I try and remove this (advice welcome) and then re-point / repair with lime mortar please? As I said before, I'm new to DIY so advice for dummies greatly appreciated. Cheers M

Advice on re-pointing brickwork below hacked off render #pic

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and DIY so please bear with me! Several years ago I had decking put down. Before decking, the render was hacked off near the bottom, and the exposed brick painted black with what I assume was something bituminous. I was told the render needed hacking away to...
