    Christmas Lights

Thanks for the two links, these look possible but hard to be sure if gutter guards will block the clips, maybe worth a try .... the other suggestion on amazon definitely won't work as there is no depth in the gutter for the clip to go on the inside due to the guards.

    Christmas Lights

I'm just struggling to picture how attaching a cable tie to the centre of the metal strip prevents it coming loose from the holes it's poked through??? Maybe I'm not quite imagining it right! If the wire stays in place though this could be a workable solution.

    Christmas Lights

I like this but they are festoon lights, so larger bulbs .... I'd be concerned about the weight with this setup!

    Christmas Lights

I'm really struggling to figure a decent way to hang festoon Christmas lights along my guttering. I have aluminium gutters with broad edges which most clips don't attach to and gutter guards which don't allow any depth for clips which might attach otherwise. Does anyone have any bright ideas...

    Ants and Sika Fastfix

I've just removed all the old mortar on our patio and replaced it with Sika Fastfix .... it's been over a week and it's fully hardened off but Ants are coming up through little holes in it in various places. I don't know if I didn't compact it enough or if this would happened regardless. I...

    Lift and Re-lay Karndean

Very simply is this at all possible to lift and then later re-lay Karndean tiles? Unfortunately our underfloor heating isn't performing as required, I suspect largely due to both chipboard&ply in the floor which ideally I would like to remove but can't access without removing the expensive...

    Operating Underfloor Heating

@Exedon based on the pictures do you feel the given pipe length of 55m is likely to be correct? I count 28 runs of pipe approx half the room width (approx 2.5m x28 = 70m) Basically I'm wondering about flow rate which the internet advises to be Pipe Length / 40. I have the flow rate set to max...

    Infrared Heating to Supplement Underfloor?

Ian, I'm very interested to hear of your experience as I've struggled to find anyone who has used them personally. I've read that you feel a heat similar to sitting in the sun when they are pointing directly at you despite the fact they don't get "hot". As well as heating the fabric of the...

    Infrared Heating to Supplement Underfloor?

We have a "fan heater" integral to our electric fireplace. There was no intention to use this to heat the room but when I do it goes straight up and I feel no benefit until the temperature of the entire room is raised. My hope with Infrared would be that even if the room temperature hasn't...

    Infrared Heating to Supplement Underfloor?

@Swwils I've discussed this endlessly on others forums and have mentally moved on from the cause and responsibility but briefly, Wet UFH from new Gas Boiler. Building work meets regulations to the best of my knowledge, this has been trawled through with the builder. The builder arranged for an...

    Infrared Heating to Supplement Underfloor?

Last year we converted our double garage to a double height vaulted ceiling living room with underfloor heating. We've exhausted all options and the underfloor isn't sufficient to heat the room on the coldest winter days. I'm looking at solutions ahead of this winter and am interested in...

Heating to assist Underfloor in Winter

Thanks @ericmark for the suggestion, however as I'm seeing it the problem wouldn't be turning this new radiator on as and when required .... more so that the central heating through the entire house would have to come on just to activate this one radiator in the evening. Again this is a...

Heating to assist Underfloor in Winter

I've been through many similar questions on another thread and with my builder. To the best of my knowledge it is insulated to the required standard but with vaulted ceiling, two velux, french doors and three exterior walls the underfloor isn't enough in the depths of winter. The room does...

Heating to assist Underfloor in Winter

I'm not sure why a heatwave has got me thinking about heating!??! I have preciously posted here regarding the underfloor system not fully heating our garage conversion, I've exhausted all possibilities to improve this and am now looking to add another heat source to the room. It's a double...

    Operating Underfloor Heating

@Exedon I've used a few different online calculators for room heat loss which all suggest about 4000W for our room. Can I just double check that you feel 2600W is accurate from your perspective as these numbers are surprisingly far apart. Thanks, appreciate your help!

    Operating Underfloor Heating

@Exedon I genuinely think the build quality is up to scratch. There have just been some oversights around the heating but I believe the rest is as expected. It's a joisted floor so I'm not sure how a deep screed system would have worked. I just wish someone had calculated heat losses and...

Second heat source after underfloor heating

I spoke to the builder and he just replied that the underfloor fitter was highly reputable. To be honest the underfloor heating does seem very professionally fitted, although I have my doubts any heat loss calcs were done. Floor temps are reading 23-24deg today so despite the chipboard/ply I...

Second heat source after underfloor heating

@BlueLoo yes I know you have suggested this, I'm doing my best! I've asked another forum member who is a fitter if he can run calcs but in the mean time using an online heat loss calc it suggests I need approx 4000W I don't know how to calculate what I'm getting from my underfloor though...

Second heat source after underfloor heating

I bought an infra red thermometer and I am getting 22-24deg at the surface which doesn't seem too far off the mark as Karndean max is 27deg. It suggests to me the bigger problem is the heat leakage of three external walls and vaulted ceiling than the wood in the floor???
