    Scantronic 9853 Tamper Reset?

Sorry should of also mentioned that I took the lid off of the panel box and the alarm didn't sound, is this because the alarm was unset and had a tamper message or does it indicate a fault?

    Scantronic 9853 Tamper Reset?

Hi, our Scantronic 9853 alarm went off last night, put in the user code to stop it and it came up with a BELL TAMPER message on the display and I could not set the alarm again. Tried going into installer mode but when it came out again the same BELL TAMPER message appeared. This morning I took...

Crooked Up and Over Garage Door

Our (Merlin) garage door has dropped on one side and is now at the point where it's almost impossible to shut as it scrapes on the concrete plinth at the bottom. The frame is old and not the best but it doesn't look to have moved so presumably it's the door mechanism itself. I have noticed that...

    Redrilling gate hinge holes

I'm actually drilling the gate rather than the post so clamping should be possible. I'm no expert (hard to believe I know :) ) but think it's hardwood.

    Redrilling gate hinge holes

Whilst I've got my gates off to fix the motor brackets I might as well try and fix the droop that prevents them closing properly - I just need to remount the top hinge so that it pulls the top in by 5-6mm. Problem is that the mounting bolts are 9mm in diameter so there's going to be some overlap...

    CCTV Spec Up

Hi We're considering installing CCTV to our property to supplement the alarm and dog. It's a slightly odd setup with the house being side on to the road and with farmland on 3 sides. I've added a couple of pics below to try and show the arrangement. I'm thinking a 3 camera system will...

    Renewing sealant in shower tray

Hi, we've got a slight leak from our shower so am in the middle of replacing the sealant and hoping that will do the trick. I've removed the old sealant and am now left with a 3mm gap between the tray and bottom of the tiles. Should I fill this with grout and silicone over that or should it be...

    Wireless keypad for Scantronic 9853

We have a Scantronic 9853 system installed at our house which already has x3 keypads with proximity sensors. I'd like to install another keypad by the backdoor but not keen on the idea of trying to route a cable from the panel to the door, is there such a thing as a wireless keypad that can be...

    Electric Gates and IR Sensors

Both cover's clean so am hoping it's just a crap design and why I was looking at alternatives to swap them out. To be fair the angle and position of the sun in the mornings does mean it's shining directly at the sender unit so can see why it struggles. I have tried a temporary shield around it...

    Electric Gates and IR Sensors

Yes, it's definitely the sunlight, only happens in the morning when the sun is that side of the house and if I pull my car up right across the gate entrance so that the 'beam' is in the shadow of the car the gates will then shut.

    Electric Gates and IR Sensors

Hi guys Sorry know this isn't alarm related but thought this was the closest forum that might be able to help. We have a set of electric gates across our drive that have safety IR beams either side of them. Recently the ones in front of the gate have been playing up in the mornings and it...

    Scantronic 9853 Programming

Hi When I set our alarm using Level A (includes all sensors) it 'beeps' during the exit period, however when I set it as Level B (house excluding one room where the dog is kept) it has a steady tone during the exit timer. It's not a biggy but how do I get them both to have the beeping tones...

    Moss killing on Tarmac?

We used to use a solution of Jeyes fluid on our flat roof, used to last a couple of years before retreating never tried it on tarmac though.

    Wooden greenhouse glazing

We've got an old wooden grennhouse which is need of a bit of TLC. One of the roof panes needs relacing which basically means I need to remove all the others to get to it, so whilst I'm at it I'm going to sand down the woodwork and slap a couple of coats of preservatove on as well. When it...

Talk to me about GSM Diallers

Thanks for the responses, unfortunately using a wired dialler isn't an option as the cable routing would be a nightmare. You program the linked one by sending the unit text messages (looks pretty simple in the video) I'll probably give it a go and will feedback here Cheers

Talk to me about GSM Diallers

Hi all I'd like to fit a GSM dialler to my Scantronic 9853 alarm to notify me (ideally by a call and a text) if the alarm goes off whilst I'm away from the house. Don't know much about them but have seen a few on the auction site around the £60-70 mark eg http://tinyurl.com/pxlnvmc Are...

    MCB for a compressor

Just to follow up, I happened to drive past another Screwfix today so as per my previous post I picked up a C16 and installed that. Everything still works fine and I'm hopefully no longer in danger of blowing up my garage. Can I just clarify that the only reason I used the C32 was as a stop...

How to stop rads coming on!

Sorry should have also added that the current thermostat is a very basic BossTherm one which doesn't even have numbers on it just a graduated dial, would it help if I swapped this out to something else ?
