Can you share an example of what you mean by pistol? The problem is when my 73mm brick is stood vertically it seems too short compared to the 3 normal courses.

Hello The brick dimensions i am using are 215 x 102 x 73mm for the extension. I want to use these same bricks for the soldier course above window, however I am not sure if this is possible, can anyone advise?

I told my builder to put it in initially at the rear low level, then put a 2nd one it at the existing house level.

But would there be any benefit of putting a dpc above the rear part of the extension at 150mm above the ground? Or should it just go in at the top at the same level as the existing house?

I just want to know if I should have put a dpc at the bottom 150mm above the ground as you can see in the picture. I know there will be one going in on the top as that will be close to my floor level for the timber joists. Advice appreciated. Is more than 1 dpc ok as my builder has not done it.

Hi we are currently having an extension done, the bricks we are using are 73mm, I intend to have above the windows on the lintels vertical bricks going across maybe at the bottom too, is it possible to use these 73mm bricks or do I need to choose a different size?

But why is he charging separately for the breeze blocks on the inside? £1.40 a block, surely this will add up very expensive as I think 1 block is approx 1 brick. I'm confused as I would've guessed that £650 would include the inside blocks

I have just been given a price from a brickie for my double storey side extension and single storey side extension. He said £650 per 1000 bricks (external) and £1.40 per block (internal). Seems quite expensive to me. Can someone advise if this is the going rate in the north east please?

Is there anyone you recommend I speak to? Also will getting a new non porrous driveway done reduce the high water table or not? As for the garden, if I put perforated drainage in leading water away from the house will this benefit?
