    Boiler valve in correct position?

Whilst repressurising my boiler, I accidentally adjusted the wrong valve and now I'm not sure whether it should be up or down. The valve is a black plastic one and is on the same pipe as the blue one (which you turn to let in water). The boiler is a Logic Combi C 24. Thanks for your help

Faulty shower valve or low pressure?

Hello, I've never installed a shower before and I recently installed a thermostatic mixer shower purchased from Victoria Plumbing: https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/milan-twin-modern-square-push-button-shower-valve-with-2-outlets Its states that it's suitable for 0.5 - 5.0 bar but we have...

Because of the exposed plaster boards where I removed the wall tiles. I'm assuming plasterboard is fixed to stud walls?

    Recessed Shelves in Bathroom Wall

I thought the party wall was the brick wall(s) behind the stud wall -- I wouldn't be touching those. Fair comment about the fire break though. But isn't it: <my house><stud wall><Brick wall><gap/break><brick wall><stud wall><neighbours> ?

Shaver Socket in Bathroom on Lighting Socket

Hello I currently have a shaving light with a 240v shaver socket built into it which is connected to a lighting circuit. I would like to know if it is possible to remove the light and just fit a dual 110v/240v socket to the existing wiring and if so, is there any particular kind I need to get...

    Recessed Shelves in Bathroom Wall

Thinking of installing some recessed shelves in the wall of my bathroom but I don't know how much depth I will have. The wall is a dry wall in a fairly new(?) build (I'd say about 1970s-80s) and it's shared with a neighbour. Any ideas?

Cutting Soil Pipe in Confined Space

Thanks Hugh. Whilst we're on that subject, how much of the pipe does/should go into the joint? I had a look at some guides but none of them state this (I would've thought it useful when measuring cuts!?) or is there no 'lip' inside the joints?

Cutting Soil Pipe in Confined Space

Hello I read in another, very old thread (with similar title) that you can cut a soil pipe in a confined space with a nylon string but I'm worried that the cut might not be perfectly straight (the cut I need to make is not at eye level). Does it matter if the cut is not perfectly straight...

    Noob sink hosewaste pipe questions

I want to add a half meter or so plastic pipe to this fitting (so that my washing machine drainage pipe will reach) but I'm confused as to which size pipe and fittings I need to look for. The actual diameter of the pipe is around 30mm but I can only find fittings for 32mm and the couplings...

All lights connected to 2 seperate circuits

He had two circuits going into the same ceiling rose. No bridge at the CSU. All done now - 2 seperate circuits as god intended. Just need to move all of the remaining JBs from the joists and make all the wires neat. What does it say in the regulations regarding the wiring. Don't they have to...

All lights connected to 2 seperate circuits

I'm re-wiring my Mothers lights because the previous owner had installed loads of LEDs everywhere (I've so far removed 19 downlights from a 2 bed bungalow, lol) and also used junction boxes under floorboards (when he did bother to use them; some cables were connected with terminal blocks + tape)...

    Pitched roof insulation advice

Hello I need to insulate my pitched roof, but I would like to maintain the look of a wooden roof. A couple of questions: 1. Would I need to leave a 25mm gap between the wood that's just below the roof tiles (don't know the name) and the insulation boards for ventilation if there is no...

Wiring a consumer unit to the mains

You did. My apologies. I appreciate that mate and I thank you for trying to advise me given that fact. Is it likely that an electrician -after they take a look at the CU- will want to replace the CU with a modern one or would they be able to install an RCD in the existing CU? There is space...
