    Boiler pressure

right, I think i'm with u so far. Supposing that I disconnect the filler hose and water is still passing through despite the tap being closed, does this mean that the tap needs replacing? If this is the case, I think I'll need to get a pro in. I appreciate that by disconnecting the filler...

    Boiler pressure

thanks for the quick replies chaps. The boiler is an ideal mini 28 (combi). I've turned the tap on the filler loop right off but the pressure has still gone up albeit very slowly. The pressure is at just above 3 bar without the heating being on. At the risk of sounding ignorant, which end...

    Boiler pressure

Hoping somebody in the know can help me with my boiler problem. I've just put a radiator back on after decorating and refilled the system through the loop on the boiler and then open all the bleed valves to release the air. When I refilled the system I put enough water in so that the...

    Dusty Tiles

It sounds like they are tumbled marble and this chalky finish is normal. Prior to grouting they should be sealed with an impregnating sealer. You mention HG Impregnator. This is the wrong stuff for tumbled marble. It should be HG Marble Impregnator. Once you have applied this, it will take...

    Is this normal!!!!?

I dare say that the incorrect adhesive has been used. I'll hazard a guess and say you've used a ready mixed floor adhesive. Need to know what type of tile it is before advising what sort of adhesive will sort it out (ie. ceramic/porcelain). The only problem is that all the other tiles are...

    curved border tiles

I assume the borders are normal ceramic and if that's the case, they can be scored and snapped on a normal dry rail cutter. If they are not much thicker than the tiles, rather than mitre cutting them, you can usually just butt them upto the tile trim on the external angles without much if any...

    Finding matching wall tiles

Even if you managed to get the exact same tile now, it would be from a different tone/calibre (ie:- batch) so the likelihood of them matching either in shade or size would be small. Either redo the whole lot or use something like a mosaic to fill in, which will give you a complete contrast...

    Multi coloured mosaic tiles

Have a look at www.dune.es on page 12 ceramic wall borders - modern style at the 'colours' border. If this is what you want, they are available in the UK. It is a solid grout over border rather than a mesh backed one.

why have my ceramic floor tiles (on concrete) lifted?

What type of tiles are they? If they are porcelain and a suitable adhesive hasn't been used, it will not bond to the tile so basically all that will hold them down is the grout (that's if there are grout/movement joints)

    Grout width for wall ceramics?

These are probably from the Padova range if they are manufactured by azulindus & marti. If they are, they are actually floor tiles but are more often than not used on the walls. They are decent quality and don't usually vary that much in size.

    Grout width for wall ceramics?

Without seeing the tiles, it's difficult to say. Are they straight edged or wavy edged? If they are straight edged, 2mm is a sufficient joint. If they are wavy edged, the joint is usually a little wider dependent on how wavy they are! This is only an aesthetic thing. Are the tiles you've...

    Black Grout

If you do use black grout, make sure you do it in very good natural light. It's a swine to see where it's gone when you use it on black or dark coloured tiles. Also, don;t over-wash it too much as this can cause the pigment to come out.

    Porcelain tiles in en-suite

Make sure prior to grouting that these tiles do not need sealing. (usually chinese polished porcelain). I've recently got some samples for a job and the chinese ones failed the water test.

Ceramic or Porcelain for floor tiles in Kitchen?

porcelain, preferably glazed, italian or spanish tends to better quality.

    Bathroom floor, pre tile dilemma!!

It all boils down to common sense really. As gcol says, try and bend a piece of 6mm ply and then a piece of 12mm ply....there's no comparison. I always tell my customers to go as thick as possible. 6mm ply is just not adequate for any job like this and personally I wouldn't do it if 6mmm ply...

Transition from carpet to ceramic tiles. Any suggestions?

The best way to go is to get a nice piece of oak or similar. If you know any half decent woodworkers, they'll be able to graduate it so that it gently slopes down. The carpet can be butted up to this as normal with gripper. The best way to fill the gap between the tiles and the wood strip is...

    Quadrant Tiles

AFAIK, H.R Johnson manufacture these. Give them a ring and ask for the nearest Johnson's dealer to you who'll be able to get them. Their telephone number is 01782 575575.

Advise about Slate floor tile adhesive.

No problem mate. At least you know you've got some decent gear that'll do the job regardless of cost (well almost regardless!!)

Advise about Slate floor tile adhesive.

I would use a single part flex adhesive bearing mind the bitumen floor. I live in Bradford and can get you it for £18/20kg. If you need some let me know.
