Teak staircase - painted in dulux satinwood - peels

indeed. I watched them sand it to bare though. Decorator said the same, they only sand to bare to get a nice flat finish (they use mechanical airless sanders) and the primer is all that's needed for adhesion. 100% is not getting knocked as if you look at the first picture, I am taking pictures...

    Grundfos ups3 making noise

You can put cleaners through the system i.eSentinel X800 I paid for a power flush and found it a waste of time and money, they are not thorough enough. Bear in mine I fitted brand new radiators everywhere (except 2 towel rails and 1 rad) Once they had finished I filled the system and emptied...

    Flaking paint on bathroom ceiling

Wondering if you painted the ceiling too soon and it hadn't fully dried out from the condensation issue prior ? i.e I would try again after you sure the plasterboard is completly dried out or use a primer like Zinsser bin. My main bathroom is done in a zinsser perma white, which seems to do the...

Teak staircase - painted in dulux satinwood - peels

Wondered if any of you experienced decorators may be able to help. Backstory: I had a staircase, all made of teak and stained/oiled. I had the whole staircase sanded back to bare, the handrail was then oiled/stained, but we had the spindles and all surrounding woodwork painted with Dulux...

Immersion thread warped / not flat

I would not use ptfe in this kind of situation, you are more likely to cross thread or more thread slip. Remember this is a case where the head is warped. As per my update I went with lsx as it's not the threads you want to seal it's the flange to the immersion, which the fibre washer will do a...

Immersion thread warped / not flat

Thanks all for the comments, for any one else reading, this is my advise. If like me your plumber fitted a 14inch immersion heater in to your 1850mm tank, even if it was only several years ago, if it's not leaking do not touch it unless your boiler has packed up and you have no choice! Do not...

Immersion thread warped / not flat

Changed my mind. I put that half thin washer at the back to pack that extra few mm and a bit thicker lsx. Bottom washer now to tank has no flex and feels tight. Will see how this holds up. Atleast we now havr cold water and potentially one tanks worth of hot to last till friday

Immersion thread warped / not flat

After using the cap to help wind the threads and a few taps with hammer i got it to mate a bit better. This is with 3 washers with lsx under and over the washer, tiny bit on threads and bit on immersion side. If i use a screwdriver and press on washer on far right side it does flex a tiny bit...

Immersion thread warped / not flat

An example with 3 washers of the old one. I think he must have just screwed this thing down with force and there was loads of compound round it. The threads are not cross threaded but a bit damaged and ive tried to rectify that. How on earth could that have happened? I wonder if its because he...

Immersion thread warped / not flat

After my better judgement of not replacing the immersion heater for 14inch to a full size one. I took it off yesterday and the new one will not go back on square. It appears the top of the immersion is not flat and is warped. Could the plumber have distored it in this way or was it likely like...

System boilers - hot water tanks, separate flow temperature possible

I was wondering about that as every single guide and YouTube video I watched stated it had to partially drained via the bottom drain hose. I suppose it depends how low all the tap feeds are. I may buy one of those box spanners, wd40 it the night before and just see if mine undoes easily as it's...

System boilers - hot water tanks, separate flow temperature possible

Thanks all. Buying vailant wiring centers and controls seems a bit ott for me. I think the immersion once a week to kill the bugs is the best route. I have just been putting off replacing it with the 36" one as I have no doubt the plumber, who had no idea what he was doing probably got loads...

System boilers - hot water tanks, separate flow temperature possible

That's a good idea.. unfortunately for me the plumber fitted a shallow immersion inside the hw tank and it only heats the top of the tank and the bottom stays luke warm. I bought a new one and have it next to the tank, never fitting it as Id have to remove the whole tank or take the ceiling...

How often should the central heating expansion vessel be topped up?

You are correct, that was written incorrectly. Is is indeed heat only with a HW tank.

System boilers - hot water tanks, separate flow temperature possible

I have a vailant ecotek plus 438. 20 radiators and an UFH system. House built in 1990 and back extended recently. Cavity wall insulation, ceiling insulation and insulation between most internal rooms. 100mm-250mm loft insulation. 4 zone valves. I would like to reduce the flow temperatures of...
