    Paving / Patio Moulds

Hi all, Am looking to use a cement mould, not one that casts indivudual slabs but one in which you pour the cement mix in to a plastic frame (no bottom) whilst in final position...examples here...

    Kitchen Plinths - Long ones

Thank you both. However for the lengths I need the skirting would need painting or spraying, so to get a decent finish I prefer to avoid skirtng if at all possible. Plus sealing with PVA, diluted or even neat doesn't seem to last in wet areas in which water can sit for even a short-ish while...

    Kitchen Plinths - Long ones

Hi everyone, I live on the edge of North West London / Herts / Middlesex borders and am trying to find a supplier of extra long kitchen plinths. I will also need them delivered as one will need to be a minimum of 3.3m long, as it will be very nice to keep an unbroken line on this long run...

New internal grained effect panel doors - painting?

Thank you both, very helpful. As you say they are "raw" at the edges...although there is a "very slight" sheen! I think the chances are that this is just a primer on them due to the price and that the paint on them does not quite get to the edges...so think that would be the raw bit you refer...

New internal grained effect panel doors - painting?

Hi all, Just bought a few cheap doors, unfortunately to get the sizes I wanted I had to buy the grained affect type. Having said that, they do look good and already have what appears as a non shinning coat of paint. Other than there being no shine, do I assume that this is just a base coat...

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Freddo and everyone, thank you so very much. It all makes sense.

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Okay, all good information...thanks. So this is kind of what I meant about a unit elsewhere to isolate locally. - I get the 45A cooker outlet with 4mm² cable to the hob. - I also get the 13A unswitched fused spur in to the dual box to supply the oven. As the oven has a moulded plug would it...

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Great, thank you very much. So finally is it a "minimum" 90 degree flex from the 45A DP to the hob that is required or is there a better/preferred capacity cable that one should use for hobs? I have seen all sorts of suggestions and note Eric's earlier 90 degree suggestion, which does sound...

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Hi and thanks for that, very helpful. The cooker has a moulded plug and the plan was to plug that in to an existing standard double socket under the units, so no trailing wires above the worktop. As for the hob, I have I 45A DP switch which I wish to bury in to the wall and run all wires...

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Thanks Eric. So just straight in and out of the switch, fused switch anywhere?

    Wiring to ceramic hob

Hi all, I can see many threads about wiring in and at a hob but my query more relates to the wiring connections before the hob, please. I have a correct capacity cable (single as a radial supply) from fuse the box and routed near to the hob but not wired in to anything yet. My question is...

Fused spur as existing lighting switch?

Hi, this may sound odd but I have a normal switch from a lighting circuit in a hall that eventually feeds both the shaving socket and bathroom cabinet light within a bathroom, no issue. Even with the switch being low, tenants keep switching it off...so thought to replace it with fused spur with...

    Cement over wood?

I know plaster will not stick over wood unless a metal mesh would be needed...however will a cement render stick over wood? I have a few walls of very uneven brickwork and wood supports all along a mainly internal wall but with very little depth in places, some plasterboard in sections too...

    Staircase reversal

Thank you both. Yes the squared areas top and bottom will be the full width of the staircase. At the moment the staircase stops at the top one step short on to the squared area and then you step in to each room either side by going up another step. Currently the width of the doors is more...

    Staircase reversal

Hi everyone. I have an existing and very steep staircase, some 10 treads high and then a final large square “tread” area. The staircase then has one more step as it goes left and right in to the two bedrooms. I want to reverse this existing staircase and by creating a large square extra step...

    Waterproof bonding?

So don't bother with either the bonding and multi finish and go straight on to the cement render....I suppose that makes sense and is easier too!
