    Rising damp or normal?

Have to wait until daylight to get a better shot but here's a wide angle photo of the wall in question (marked red arrow). There's also a bit of "high" damp on the front corner aswell (though not seen in this photo). There's no gutter above that wall. There aren't aren't any noticeable puddles...

    Rising damp or normal?

During/after rain, the bottom 4 layers of bricks are always wet. I think the DPC is above the 2nd layer so not sure why there's wetness above it. Clearly, the bricks higher up have dried quickly but the bottom 4 layers seems to be consistently wetter. Is this normal? Note: The inside has no...

Leaking at bottom of pitched roof Keylite windows

Thanks for the suggestions. I assume the white, underside parts in your photos are curled up flashing as well? I can't actually see if there's any excess flashing on mine or if there's any lip to stop water running down the sides. The apron edge appears to be flush against the side of the tray -...

Leaking at bottom of pitched roof Keylite windows

Looking for possible DIY remidies with a roof leak. My house is a 2019 new build from Barratt Homes. The ground floor pitched roof has two Keylite windows. About a year after I moved in, I noticed a couple of small (<10mm diameter) plaster blowouts under the corners of each window. I assumed it...

Removing TV aerial socket and extending to TV

So, I'm looking to wall mount some cabinets with sockets/phone/TV points accessed from inside the cabinet (all hidden). However, one of the cabinet's vertical columns goes right over the existing TV connector on the wall and ideally, needs to sit flush against the wall. I could move my cabinets...

Wiring help for Hive Active Heating 2 (replacing Lifestyle LP522 programmer)

Spot on! Not obvious the mode when the status LED is flashing amber (in case anyone else has the same problem). Need to follow the instructions and hold the HW button 10 seconds - and check BLUE (gravity) or GREEN (pump). Thanks flameport - was very easy to install had I not overlooked that.

Wiring help for Hive Active Heating 2 (replacing Lifestyle LP522 programmer)

OK, I did that but when I press the CH button on the new Hive receiver, both CH & HW comes on. On the other hand, when I press the HW button, only the HW light comes on (CH remains off). This makes me think I need to alter the CH wiring a bit to suit the new Hive receiver.

Wiring help for Hive Active Heating 2 (replacing Lifestyle LP522 programmer)

I bought the Hive Active Heating 2 (Black Friday) but I'm having trouble with the wiring. It seems my 20+ year old system is missing one wire - has 5 connected, but should have 6 wires. This is the desired dual channel wiring diagram for the new Hive receiver which looks fairly simple if it was...

New laminate worktops and plinths chipped after cutting - expected?

Our solution seems to be sealing strips, which actually look alright now a different fitter has popped them on. I thought about using white silicone but the plinths are high gloss finish so it would still be noticeable in bright sunlight/lighting.

New laminate worktops and plinths chipped after cutting - expected?

Kitchen and appliances was supplied separately at £3k. For the fitters, I actually paid (or will pay on satisfactory completion) £4k, for the fitting, gas, electrics & underfloor heating, plumbing, tiling, painting and new boiler, so yes, I felt a bit peeved for the finish quality. Following my...

New laminate worktops and plinths chipped after cutting - expected?

Some photos for your amusement. I took almost 50 photos and made a list of 30 separate "issues" which I've put in writing to my fitter and expect to be fixed before I pay anything. I'll be talking to him when I get home tonight. Worktop by robato posted 10 Aug 2015 at 9:12 AM I only spotted the...
