    Extractor fan poorly installed.

The quote was via email “Our price will be £150 for extractor fan buying and labour. Need your approval before we go ahead.” The job as discussed on the phone was to replace the faulty extractor fan. My tenet has dealt with the face to face.

    Extractor fan poorly installed.

guys, After complaining that the job was incomplete, I received this email from the contractor… 1. The dirt on the wall is left by your previous extractor fan and it is the work of the painter to paint the wall. 2. Your previous extractor fan is an old model which we couldn't find in the...

Leak from under the kitchen floor / behind the skirting.

Thanks John. I didn't think of that, but I can see that is really good advice. I will check in the morning (We've moved to the sister in laws house whilst the water is off).

Leak from under the kitchen floor / behind the skirting.

Hi, When the mains in on, there is a gush of water that appears to well from under the tiles a few inches to the left on a radiator. When the mains is off the leak stops. I have booked a leak detector to come around (for 400 pounds), but recently noticed that they detect leaks, but do not fix...

    Digital coax audio over cat6

Hi, I want to output the sound from my TV to an 5.1 amp that is situated under the stairs. I've run cat6 throughout my house, so was wondering if I can bridge the coax output from my TV to the coax input on my amp via the cat6 cables.

Filling in a gap between brick wall and adjacent concrete platform

Hi, I need to fill a gap (2 inches wide and about 6 inches deep) between my new extension and the neighbours concrete level. The damp course in the bricks is above the neighbours concrete, so I though I could fill it with gravel stones. Should I be worried about rain and fill it with concrete?

    Asbestos in Chimney flue

My worry is that this is a late 1960's build and I read that it was common in that era to mix asbestos into the cement / mortar.

    Asbestos in Chimney flue

Guys, to make additional room for the next extension, my builder convinced me to take the chimney flue down. We don't use the fire place. However, neither he nor I thought about asbestos and the work has already commenced. I Jutst had a look and took some pictures of the flue, and didn't see...

Can I apply a wax finish over tung oil

Does anyone recommend an exterior wax (preferably one that would darken and add UV protection). I'm currently considering sun shield wax.

Can I apply a wax finish over tung oil

I recently sanded and treated new oak sleepers with tung oil (three coats so far - all coats 50% white spirit to aid penetration). It doesn't give as dark a finish as I hoped (based on images that I'd seen on the net and worse, I just read that tung oil gives no UV protection and will not...
