Curtain rail wall anchors keep breaking

I've fitted an IKEA curtain rail to the inside, top of the window alcove using drywall anchors (the plastic kind). This was what was recommended at my local hardware store but the wall anchors keep snapping, bending and then falling out of the drilled holes. Slowly over time, the fittings are...

    Rented Flat: Letterbox woes

Can anyone advise on how to fix a dodgy letterbox on my rented flat? The letterbox on the outside of the door doesn't open fully. It looks like it's not correctly aligned with the hole in the door, so the top edge of the letterbox aperture is stopping the flap from opening to a 90-degree angle...

Hanging 3-5 mirrors -- can I use the existing picture rail?

Hahaha, risky strategy. Thanks for the hook suggestions. What about hanging from the back of the mirror to the hook on the rail? Should I used metal chain, picture hook wire? Or something different?

Hanging 3-5 mirrors -- can I use the existing picture rail?

I want to create a feature all using 3-5 vintage mirrors I've collected from charity shops. They're all quite heavy, at a guess 10-20kg each. Some have chains on the back with hooks in place on the wooden mirror back. I have a picture rail on the wall I want to hang them from. What picture...

Help: How can I fix broken wheel cap on a fishermens trolley

That's right the axel is fixed and the wheel rotates around it. It's only held on by an end cap, with a spring loaded clip that fits into a little whole about 3 x 3 mm. Tbh the fixture is pretty weak given it's only held in place by plastic. A Jubilee clip might be best bet? An R-pin or split...

Help: How can I fix broken wheel cap on a fishermens trolley

The plastic end cap on my fishermens trolley has broken and the little bit of plastic that keeps it in place has snapped off completely. Anyone got any ideas of how I can fix it and keep the wheel on the axel. I was thinking that some Sugru might do the job?

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

Maybe bordering on OCD but I'm not autistic. :D I've seen pegboard use for this sort of situation before and seemed to be quite effective. Just not sure how best to attach it to the cabinet once I've got the thin veneered plywood back off. Couple of links to images I found through Lifehacker...

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

I guess I could just hang a whole sheet of pegboard off the back of the unit? Can anyone recommend what sort of fixture / hooks would be best to take the weight of the pegboard and the plugs.

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

Yep, I'm trying to avoid the nest of tangled cables already under the cabinet (see attached photo). The cabinet is already 40mm away from the wall so no issues there. I'm finding it difficult imaging how this would work/look. Do you have an example of photo of something you might have done...

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

Thanks big-all. Can you suggest a better material? Bearing in mind, that I can't attach a new top to the unit as we'd original discussed?

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

The unit is an existing piece. Picture attached showing the front which might help explain things better. So really I can't add a new top to the unit. I can easily get to the back of the unit and don't plan on recabling it once it's finished. I plan to clip all the loose cables to the back. And...

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

Yes I want to allow the cables/fittings to hang off the pegboard at the back of the unit. I'll be attaching them with cable tiles to the pre-drilled holes in the pegboard. Do you mean you add an additional top to the cabinet? And any recommendation on what sort of brackets to attach the pegboard?

Fitting pegboard to back of TV cabinet

I have a 70s sideboard that I want to use a TV cabinet. The back is currently plywood, but I'm thinking if I take the staples out holding it in place, I could then replace the back with pegboard and hide of the cables and guff at the back in a flexible modular way. I need to add a bit of...

    Pendant screw light convertor?

Wow so many replies so quickly! And thank you for that wiring diagram explanation. I've attached photos below of the new fitting which also includes the chocblock that has already been referred to. I think where I'm confused is that, the existing screws in the recessed fitting currently in...

    Pendant screw light convertor?

I have a new pendant light that I want to fit but the existing light fitting doesn't appear to be compatible. The light I wish to fit has a metal bar to be screweded into the ceiling with rawlplugs and then a cap with screws on the side which fit into the metal bracket. However the existing...
