Need Shower, Toilet & Extractor down 1 Pipe - Possible?

There is already an industrial style 8" EC fan there which works very well. Reason for not wanting to use the wall is sound insulation. The summer house is a music studio. I was told it should be possible using one way valves. The fan has a speed controller so I would turn it up after a...

Need Shower, Toilet & Extractor down 1 Pipe - Possible?

In my summer house I have a soil pipe going underground through the concrete base and down the garden... at a gradient of course. I'm thinking about adding an electric shower in the back room, along with a toilet and extractor fan. The brown soil pipe sticks out from the floor... the flooring...

How To Plaster Rough Looking Bathroom Ceiling?

Hi, Ceiling is rough looking but not peeling. It's been painted over a few times. Should I tape cracks with mesh, paint External PVA/SBR 2 coats then skim as normal? Obviously checking first if any of it is peeling AKA run a scraper across quickly but not scrape everything off? Thanks

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

If the wind blows it to their side they get a free roof. It's a gamble which neighbour gets it.

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

The stepping up drill bit method didn't quite work... Started at 4mm, went to 6.5... then to 8mm and snap! They were toolstation Abracs bits, the lighter one is ALDI. Both snapped within seconds. Either way... I found out majority of hole locations didn't actually hit steel... only 3 holes...

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

That was the plan until I realised there's nothing behind that white cladding! Wall is literally cladding > insulation > plasterboard. Like an internal wall of a new build. Nothing to attach to. I will try step up the drill bits when I'm next there. But why not just use the 3" wall plugs I...

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

I tried with 8mm then stepped down to 6mm and it began shredding some metal off but was still taking forever. What drill bit is recommended? I mean brand and all. And no ledger! I fluffed that idea since it was originally the plan. Ended up using ledger wood as noggins. If I use resin fixings...

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

Nah no ledger has been installed. How would I drill through the steel beam? I tried with a HSS bit from ALDI and was taking ages. What about expandable concrete wall plugs? I can't find them in 40mm sleeve lengths but if I can would they be strong enough here?

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

I think it's a steel beam which has been filled with concrete to make it look nicer.

Need To Anchor Into Concrete But Only Have 40mm Before Hitting Steel Beam?

I'm building a lean-to but the only place I can anchor it on the house is a concrete lintel that spans the entire width of the house. Problem is I could only drill 40mm into the concrete before I hit a steel beam. What would be the best way to anchor? I'm trying to attach joist hangers so the...

Which RockWool EWI Can I Use Cos Everywhere Out Of Stock?

I need 50mm rockwool external insulation and was originally gonna get this one: Duel Density but I rang rockwool and they told me I need Rainscreen Duo slabs which are out of stock pretty much everywhere (or minimum order 12 packs). All I'm doing is screwing it onto a wooden outbuilding over...

Nest Heatlink Stopped Working? Intergas Boiler

Not sure what OpenTherm is but I hardly used the central heating last winter so maybe no point of switching to it. Yes there is 230v across L+N. I had a look and doesn't look like it's possible to even buy a new Heat Link? It's just coming up to 2 years old I think. And no the fused outlet is...

Nest Heatlink Stopped Working? Intergas Boiler

Hi, I recently switched to a new Virgin Superhub 3 and around the same time the Heatlink stopped working. I have reconnected to the new router on the thermostat but it just won't connect to the Heatlink. Pics: There is no light at all on the Heatlink. Have checked L + N which is showing 240v...

    £40-£50k Investing Ideas

You sound like someone who just parrots things they hear in the mainstream media. What next, terrorist financing? I've heard it all before. Also AFAICR it was a banker that likened it to tulips... of course banks are going to be anti-BTC until the day they hold it on their balance sheet.

You have no logic because you have no knowledge of this asset. Yeah financial advisors weren't telling people go get into BTC 3 years ago, they were late to the game.

Don't listen to this guy^ Your son has the right idea, put it into Bitcoin. But don't go all in right now. Bitcoin moves in 4 year cycles and is coming to the peak of it's current cycle. Wait until the peak happens and the downtrend begins THEN start dollar cost averaging (putting bits of money...

Battened Bathroom Ceiling, Should I Use Vapour Barrier Before PB?

I battened the Artex ceiling in the bathroom and wondering whether I should staple some plastic on before screwing the plasterboard up? Here is a pic: Will be using non-foil-backed PB, skimming, then non-silk emulsion. Thanks.

What Do I Put In Sockets To Prevent Noise Leaks?

Just installed 35mm plasterboard back boxes in my summer house obviously compromising the 15mm sound panel + 3mm plaster and bubble foil vapour barrier. Is there any type of putty I can stick into the back boxes to try get some noise isolation back? I've seen some stuff used before in...

How Do I Crimp This Cable To Add a Bit of Length?

Found one of those Hager boxes in my electrical bag so job is done now. Replaced the other cable with a longer one... white for white (really hate re-using old cable but ran out of new roll and whole ceiling is full of the white cable anyway). When I tugged the crimps I did hard they all came...

How Do I Crimp This Cable To Add a Bit of Length?

Yeah I've used those junction boxes before but thought they'd be too excessive for a lighting cable. Do I rubber tape the junction box or just leave it like that and stuff it into the ceiling?
