One Emergency Light Won’t Go Out.

Yeah I’ll go back tomorrow and check the power. I just thought I’d check that I wasn’t missing anything here first. Thanks.

One Emergency Light Won’t Go Out.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It’s a ROBUS R8MLED-01 It’s a maintained and non-maintained light. To run non-maintained you remove the wire between S+L which I did and it was working fine. That is until I changed the ceiling light in the other room and blanked off the earth as it was a double...

One Emergency Light Won’t Go Out.

Hi guys, I have a problem with some emergency lighting. In a place where there are 6 emergency lights (all around 20 years old with old tube bulbs) One got damaged so I replaced it with a new LED non-maintained one. It is installed correctly and the SL wire has been removed to make it...

    Adding to sockets.

Thanks very much. Pretty much answered my question Could I also run an IP rated 13A FCU from the outside socket and run an extra outside socket ti that? Thanks again.

    Adding to sockets.

Hi, It’s a new build and the socket that feeds the outside is protected by a 32a RCD and is on a ring. It doesn’t look like it’s already spurred.

    Adding to sockets.

Hi guys, I have a quick question. I have a an outside IP rated socked (double) on the side of my house. It’s fed from a socket inside the house directly opposite on the other side of the wall. I need more sockets outside in the same place and as it seems you can’t buy larger sockets I was...

    Fused spur worth it?

Just to clarify, the siren will work on any power supply from 9-28V, 12W, DC. It’s manufactured by Ring (the doorbell and camera people) and is very good. It’s designed to be powered by one of their doorbell power adapters which is 24V. It’s a plug in adapter I COULD also hardwire it...

    Fused spur worth it?

It’s not the alarm that requires the 24v it’s the external siren. i have the Ring alarm and it’s superb. The siren is 24v cheers.

    Fused spur worth it?

Hi, your thinking was exactly the same as mine. Hoping a smaller than 6A fuse would trip before the actual 6A in the MCB. The fact that you’ve tried it and it didn’t work has 100% negated my theory, thank you. I can’t see why there would be an overload from the socket in the loft. It’s only...

    Fused spur worth it?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it’s a plug in adapter. Which is why my initial thought was FCU and socket. But just the socket seems the way to go.

    Fused spur worth it?

Hi guys and gals, Just a quickie, As per my previous post on here I am planning to install a 3 pin socket in my loft and run it from the light ring. It’s only for a burglar alarm external siren which is 24v 0.5a 12w. I will do it with 1.5mm flex. What I’m wondering is, is it worth me...

    Light in loft.

Excellent, thanks very much for your reply. You’ve pretty much confirmed what I thought but wasn’t 100% sure. As for the risk of anything being plugged in, it’s only ever me that goes up there but I’ll definitely label it up just in case. Thanks again.

    Light in loft.

Hi guys. I have a quick, hopefully simple question. I want to install an external burglar alarm siren on the outside of my house. Now this siren is mains powered (24V DC, 0.5A, 12W). I want to ideally run it from my loft but the only power up there is a lighting ring with one light. I have the...

Run a socket from an FCU?

Thanks for your reply :) The FCU is spurred from a 13a double socket. I obviously wouldn't use the sockets at the same time as using the oven and microwave. Well, not for any significant time anyway. I want to keep the sockets free for low amperage items such as chargers and whisks... I was...

Run a socket from an FCU?

Hi guys, I have an FCU run from a double socket which powers my 13a built in oven which is only actually 11a at full load, not taking into account any diversity. My question is, can I run a single 3 pin socket from this FCU to supply my 800w microwave? I understand that the amperage would be...

Running a spur from a ceiling light switch

Hello mate, as I said to someone else....... Basically the LED lights would be in the kitchen and the nearest power source to it would be just through the wall (about 2 feet away) to the pull cord ceiling switch in the next room (bathroom). Thank you. Read more...
