    Cold Radiator

No difference in the heat. Could it still be slufge if clear water pours out?

    Cold Radiator

Removed the lockshield valve and had lots of clear water flow out, sounded like some air too, I'd obviously bled radiator and didn't get any air out the top. Is it possible there's been air trapped elsewhere? Turned heating on again, will see if there's a difference.

    Cold Radiator

I read the following about balancing CH systems - "The general idea is to reduce the flow to the hotter radiators so that more water flow is available for the cooler ones." I have a question about this, I have turned off every radiator in the house except the problem one and it still...

    Cold Radiator

Cheers, I looked at the FAQ but thought that since the one rads not working properly when all others are off then I might have a different problem.

    Cold Radiator

I have now tried turning all other radiators off (there are only 6 in total) After doing this the cold radiator got hotter, but not as hot as it was the other day, it was still colder towards the bottom. The pipe at the TRV end is boiling and the other one tepid. I still can't think of a...

    Cold Radiator

I live in a tennement flat and have replaced all radiators. All heat up except the large on in my living room which is cold at bottom and slightly warm at the top. I've been doing up my bedroom recently and took the radiator off to replace with a new one, I change the valves two nights ago...

    Single socket in loft

I need a single socket up in my loft (to plug in a booster for a TV ariel) I was planning to run this from my consumer unit as a separate circuit but I have it in the back of my mind that I would need a thicker cable than a normal 2.5. Is this the case? Thanks

New radiator hot at top, cold at bottom.

I recently installed a new double radiator in my living room (1800mm x 650mm) It's a lot bigger than all my other radiators in the house and only heats up at the top. The bottom of the radiator is cold. I have tried adjusting the lockshield valve but the bottom still won't heat up. Any other...

    Levelling uneven floor

I'm afraid it is 10cm, I'd rather get it level as the kitchen cabinets are level ans the floor isn't so it looks a bit strange. Is it just a case of packing it out and puting hardboard down?

    Levelling uneven floor

I'm in a top floor flat and put laminate flooring down in the kitchen last year. The problem is the floor is really uneven, it runs off by about 10cm over the length of the room. I'd really like to get this level and lay some tiles. Is this difficult to do? If I had to get someone in to do it...

    Painting Plaster

Thanks. I'm just back from B&Q and I'm more confused now. My plasterer told me to get the cheapest B&Q matt emulsion and mix with water. I then read on here that you shouldn't use vinyl matt. I asked one staff member in B&Q if they had non vinyl matt emulsion, he ssaid no, all their emulsion...

    Painting Plaster

I have had my flat plastered recently and the plasterer recommended using a 50 / 50 mix of cheap emulsion and water to seal the plaser. I was just wondering what the advantage is of adding water. Is it better to do this or could I just use the emulsion? Thanks

    Painting new doors

I have just had 6 knotty pine internal doors hung. I noticed on the packaging that the joiners threw away that the doors should be primed before hanging and that they shouldn't be hung in a newly plastered house. I had the flat skimmed last week and the doors wewn't primed by the joiners before...

How much should it cost to skim?

I had my flat skimmed over the last couple of weeks. My walls were in a REALLY bad state and the plasterer has done an amazing job - His rate was £100 per day. It took him 8 days to do - Living room (about 20' x 20' with high ceilings) - walls and ceiling Hall (large hall) - walls, ceiling...

    Skirting Boards and Plastering

I am getting my flat skimmed next week. I have removed all the old skirting and attached grounds for the new stuff (not as tall as the original skirting but as tall as I could get) Currently the grounds don't come out as far as the plaster on the walls, will they need to be thicker than the...
