Zanussi Chest Freezer - Does this sound like failing thermostat?

Back sooner than I thought! I'm struggling to get the new thermostat probe back in. It has a nice plastic tube to guide it and it slides into it perfectly but it comes to a sudden stop with a light clonk with about a foot of the probe still to go. The old probe is the same. As is the bit of...

Zanussi Chest Freezer - Does this sound like failing thermostat?

I don't defrost it that often. But after it completely stopped freezing the first time, we defrosted and dried it out fully. Six weeks later it failed again. (It's not a frost free freezer.) I have ordered a cheap thermostat to see if will keep going more than 6 weeks! I was quite happy...

Zanussi Chest Freezer - Does this sound like failing thermostat?

I've decided to just replace the thermostat as a test. I have it freed from the freezer but I can't work out how to separate the actual thermostat from the plastic panel. I'm hoping it doesn't come as one big expensive thing! Does anyone know a good place to buy a new one? I don't want to...

I went to Spain this week and despite what the anti-Brexit scaremongers on here said……

I would, and there are thousands more, it's just that many are not members of this forum. Before Brexit I hardly ever got my passport stamped but since, it's been done diligently every time. And it pays to make sure they do it because that's your proof of leaving, otherwise you can be accused...

Zanussi Chest Freezer - Does this sound like failing thermostat?

About 3 months ago the freezer suddenly began warming up. I emptied it and defrosted/dried it all out. A few days later I tried it again and it began cooling down and was again working perfectly. I didn't trust it, so I put the outdoor thermometer from my weather station inside and set up...

Valliant Plus boiler - Can we leave with mains water off?

This is my daughter's park home in Berkshire. Her outside tap froze/thawed and leaked. She is newly on her own with two kids so with no water/toilets on a Sunday we talked her through replacing the leaking joint which luckily was just a speed-fit elbow which she did (in the rain!) perfectly...

Gap between wall and ground - pic

Thank you both for your replies. (y) It seems to be the (solid) floors in this house that cause most of the problems but that crack did worry me. I had visions of the (endless) rain running into it and slowly washing away the foundations! This house is built into a hill and is an odd mixture...

Gap between wall and ground - pic

I was about to add a bell cast bead to a wall on my early 60's quirky house. But there is a gap between the wall and the paving. I could just fill it with cement but it looks deliberate somehow so I don't want to add more problems to an already damp house. I can't tell if there ever was a...

Sharp R959SLMAA combination oven - Ghostly turntable

Everything works perfectly - microwave, grill and oven but I found it quietly turning by itself this morning, door closed, stone cold. I think the light was on too. If you open the door it stops as normal then caries on turning when you close the door. The display works normally when you...

    removing shrunk on gear

The HT side normally is usually worse under load (although everything is possible) but you said So I took that to be popping back in the exhaust but is that the case? I presume you have changed the rotor arm? My old boss (c1972) used to have a fun but reliable test for those ;) Start with...

    removing shrunk on gear

I remember that inlet manifold hotspot collapsing burnerman mentions too! Bloody things! Make sure the distributor spindle isn't worn leading to side to side movement and varying points gap. If I remember correctly that also shows up on a strobe timing light check as the notch on the crank...

    Ghostly door.

Thanks for your reply. It does seem to be fractionally out of true but it really is a tiny amount. I discovered that if I leave the door open a little more fully it stays open. It obviously suits the ghost better that way!

    Ghostly door.

I'm hoping this is just a question for chippies and not underpinners (and certainly not undertakers!) I have a bedroom door that has started closing by itself. It doesn't do it in normal swing shut sort of way but a more subtle, turn your back and it's closed next time you go past sort of way...

    BBA Reman

T5 Transporter ABS pumps do fail (usually electrically). They usually get sent back as beyond repair if you try that route. People are asking big money on Ebay for rusty old ones that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole! You can buy the electrical (ECU) section separately but it's still £500...

    Loose shower enclosure/Gorilla tape..

It's a two panel corner shower and quite old (Year 2000 ish) Matki. The glass door was catching on closing and I discovered that although the aluminium upright side was screwed firmly to the wall the next part in was able to pull out a bit at the top distorting the frame enough to stop the...

    Honda jazz 2011 1.4 Service

I did one of those 8 plug Jazzes about a year ago. I don't remember having to take the wiper motor off. Perhaps mine was a different model. It's quite common to have to take the inlet manifold off to change spark plugs these days though.

    Whirlpool Fridge/Freezer dead?

That's so true for me too. I'm at the heroic stage now! Or is euphoric? I know I'm only really tinkering at the margins but it does feel really good when you bring something back to life. I'm still on a high from fixing my completely dead combi oven a few months ago (sad or what!) We...

    Whirlpool Fridge/Freezer dead?

Haha! I'm now officially 2-1 up on the appliances! Fitted the new starter in a few minutes and the compressor started straight away. After a couple of hours the freezer was already at -17c. Thanks again.

    Whirlpool Fridge/Freezer dead?

That was a good idea. Mind you, if this does fix mine I'm not holding out much hope of this fridge making old bones. I liked the fact that the starter looks a bit burnt and the meter seemed to agree. I've even paid an outrageous £8.50 for next day delivery. :ROFLMAO: But pride comes before a...
