    Loft dripping

Hi, I've got really bad condensation Al over my loft on the timber and felt. I've noticed there's some type of silver insulation stuffed in to the eaves, looks a bit like silver bubble wrap.. Won't this be blocking the soffit ventilation? Here's a video: Appreciate any advice, hoping to...

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Update Engineer came today, replaced flow switch and said hopefully this fixes the leak. Apparently he said we can't get the flow elbow any more as it's no longer made so if that's the issue I would need a whole new boiler... Is it just me or does that sound a bit extreme?

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Just had a new pump and still get the noise. I'll ask the engineer to check the zone valve instead. Although there are two zone valves (one for hw and one for ch) the problem seems to occur on either hw or ch demand so that made me think they might be ok. My flow switch doesn't leak when cold...

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Hi mate, interesting tbh my boiler must be a good 15 year old so I guess I should expect these sort of problems now. Did your customers have any symptoms like mine where there was a loud hissing and drips coming out of the area where the flow switch joins? Thanks

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Update Spoke to the engineer and mentioned the banging/grinding type noise.. Showed him the video of the flow switch leaking. He told me he reckons its the heat pump so changed it with a new one. When draining the water it was black. He mentioned it should have a powerflush done. Few hours...

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Here's a pic of the valves, pump etc. Both of the levers of the zone valves are at the top, so I assume they are correctly installed? In the past I have had the heating zone valve not close so the heating came on with the hot water. I took off the valve and manually rotated the spindle after a...

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Hi sorry for the lack of information. From what I can see there is just one heat pump in the airing cupboard with the unvented cylinder and the expansion vessel. There are also 2 zone valves there. We don't have underfloor heating. That's kinda what I was thinking. However it feels as if they...

Potterton promax 15 he - Strange noise and then leak

Hi got a potterton promax 15 he. Pumps with the cylinder in the airing cupboard but boiler is in utility room. So recently I've found in that can hear a loud clunking noise (around the pump I think, not sure) and then the boiler locks out. When I go to the boiler I hear a hissing sound as if...

Potterton promax leak from threaded plug on condensate trap

Thank you Was just wondering if the plug comes on its own as I don't think I need the other bits? Couldn't tell if they are a standard size the diameter seems around 19mm. The only marking on the plug was the word "moss" If not I'll order the kit thanks again

Potterton promax leak from threaded plug on condensate trap

Hi, Got a potterton promax he with a leak coming from the drain plug on the condensate trap. It appears to have a crack in the plug which is probably from overtightening. Does anyone know if this part is replaceable on its own and if so what size is the plug? Where would you go for a...

Rounded off isolation valve on filling loop

Oh so I could possibly buy another one, remove the screw and lever and attach to this? I know that's technically not the best solution but for a DIYer like me and considering it's not going to be used often it could be OK?

Rounded off isolation valve on filling loop

The hole looks threaded, almost like a screw was designed to go in there. I'll probably have to drain the vessel at the top, then close the water and then remove and replace so will look in to this. Thank you

Best way of cleaning CH System

Thanks for your response, sounds like a good idea. Only thing im not sure about is you mentioned "a couple of fills and flushes" by flushing do you mean open the drain off and let it drain? or do you mean open the drain off and then open the filling loop so that water is pushed out at pressure...

Rounded off isolation valve on filling loop

Appears my filling loops isolation valve is rounded off which makes it very hard to open and close. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or does it need to be replaced? It appears there is a thread in the middle I was thinking maybe carefully putting a screen in and using that as a lever?

Best way of cleaning CH System

Hi, I recently installed a new rad and was going to add some inhibitor in the system when I realised the water was very dirty with particles in it. Although everything seems to work ok, I want the system to be set up right to limit the possibility of issues in the future. The products I have...

Maintenance free - method of lowering socket (Extending 2.5mm T&E)

Surely I can do what I want in my own home as long as it’s done safely. The house is about 15 years old and they will be lowered to a level that is still in line with regs which if I recall correctly is 450mm

Maintenance free - method of lowering socket (Extending 2.5mm T&E)

Thanks for your reply John, I have used the blanking plate approach in the past but this is a master bedroom in my house and I want the best finish possible so would prefer not to have anything visible at all where the old sockets were. Its an external wall on a house made within the last 15...
