Plastic feet for DIY patio table

Thanks for the suggestion! I did initially think of these but then it was pointed out to me that even if they fitted very well, water might still get inside and then sit inside the ferrule, causing the opposite of what I want to happen haha.

Plastic feet for DIY patio table

Hi all, I'm making a patio table from softwood. It's a farmhouse style design, so the legs have their end grain touching the patio. While I've left them standing in wood preserver to suck up as much as they'll take, I also want to attach plastic feet to the bottom to really keep the end grain...

Reasonable price to replace ridge and hip tiles

Cheers guys. Yep sorry I was mis-using terms in my first post. The quote is for removing and re-bedding all the existing hip and ridge tiles, so should be a proper job, not just re-pointing (which I hear is worthless).

Reasonable price to replace ridge and hip tiles

Hi all, Been quoted £1,100 to replace and repoint the ridge and hip tiles on my 1930s semi detached. Don't think it's been touched in nearly 100 years so starting to look a bit crumbly. Job would take one day plus maybe some tidying up on second day. No scaffolding required. The whole house is...

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

actually just looking at the wickes ones (that are supplied with doors), they also have 3mm back, so maybe that itself isn't a problem, as you mentioned. Must be something else about the B&Q ones that people hate. The Wickes ones costs 2-3x as much and are well reviewed. Maybe i'll just buy a...

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

Hmm fair enough. I've not fitted loads either, just almost every single review of them says how bad that new range at B&Q is!! and many mention the back panel being too thin.

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

yeah just the backs, but all the reviews say that makes them noticeably much worse! thanks for your extra detail.

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

thanks for your reply. would you mind saying a bit more about why it was a lot of work? I was hoping in my case i should just be able to slide out the old fridge, and effectively slide in the new cabinet unit...

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

Thanks. I did look on there but can't find carcasses, only units with doors. Do they sell carcasses? I also don't trust Ikea - I bought a king-size bedframe from them, and it doesn't match the size of every other non-Ikea king-size mattress.

Why to buy kitchen unit carcass

Hi all, I'm replacing an under counter fridge with a kitchen cabinet. Can reuse the door that's on the fridge, but where's best to buy carcasses? I was looking on b&q a year ago and they had what i need. They discontinued the range though and the new ones terribly reviewed, has 3mm hardboard...

Is this water on underside of roof tiles something to worry about?

Thanks guys. Paid a roofer for their long ladder and lack of fear of heights to replace the cracked one with one from my pile in the garden. Good thing for the pile and a previous owners foresight, them tiles stopped being made 30 years ago!

Is this water on underside of roof tiles something to worry about?

I've recently been getting damp patches on my bedroom ceiling. Went into the loft to have a look. Roof is just clay tiles on top of wooden structure, many decades old. One tile is completely cracked, near where the water patches are, so this clearly needs replacing. But going up there in the...

    Ideas for redecorating 1970s kitchen

Hi all, looking to refresh the 1970s kitchen my house came with. Nothing major, but looking to paint the walls and cupboards, replace the sink (currently it's cream plastic, but very stained), and possibly replace the worktops and wall tiles. This is an older photo, but the neatest one...

Are modern bathroom laminate furniture materials OK?

The bathroom (cabinets, countertop, bath surround) I've inherited from the previous owner of my house is made from MDF with a laminate over the top. The laminate is chipped and peeled in many places. I'm not sure the age of it, but it's gotta be at least a couple of decades. Is modern...

What's best option for roofing small flat roofs these days?

What are everyones' thoughts on solutions that are applied as a liquid and set into something like rubber/fibreglass? I've had two quotes from people, one using Fix-R and one using Evercryl, which look similar to me. £750 for each, versus two quotes for £450 for torch-on felt.

What's best option for roofing small flat roofs these days?

The flat roof on top of my bay window that runs all the way up the house to bottom of pitched roof above first floor needs replacing. The previous felt has worn through, torn on the corners and such (see photo). What would anyone recommend as material for replacement? You can't see it so it...

Does Easifill 60 ever set completely against liquid?

Hi all, I've just used Easifill 60 for the first time as was recommended it. It went on a treat and smoothed off nicely with the sander. However, I got some water on it while washing an adjacent wall (nearly a week after it was first applied), and noticed that the water makes the Easifill...
