Laying order - brick edged paved area

The border will follow the fence line all the way around apart from the paved area, because the fence isn’t 90 degrees on that corner we are coming out slightly to achieve the square paved area.

Laying order - brick edged paved area

I’m in the process of putting a border around an existing patio, a garden border and also putting in a new paved area. In the attached picture you will see the new paved area in the top right and a drawn red line where the brick border will go around all edges. As the fence in the top right...

Use of engineering bricks for border

This is what we have opted for. Didn’t realise they were referred to as blue which is why we weren’t getting many results on google. Have got a few and they look like they will do the job nicely. Any recommendations on sand base or wet mix? Thanks!

Use of engineering bricks for border

Hi all. We are looking to edge our patio and garden with a single line of grey brick, but we want them butted tightly together, not sand filled like a driveway joint. Would I be right in thinking that engineering bricks are flat on all sides? (driveway bricks seem to have notches to force the...

Roof chippings - how deep and where from?

I need to put some chippings down on the garage extension roof, it’s aprx 2.5m x 2.5m. How deep should I lay it and what sort of chippings/gravel should I use? Existing stuff is white but not a lot comes up to buy that matches this. Thanks in advance.

    What is this washer called?

I need to replace a washer that fits an appliance outlet at the sink trap. It got distorted on a bad install as can be seen in the pics. Ideally I’d like to replace with another flap type one but nothing I search for brings them up. This is bigger than a 3/4 inch pipe washer from the water feed...

    Solving flat roof water problem

Right so I've run through a few options and I'm looking to cut away some of the arris rail where the water pools and install a gutter to lead to a water butt. However, what I'd really like is a side exit hopper to keep things up and out the way as the water butt will be around the corner. Does...

    Solving flat roof water problem

Yes the original garage roof has white stone chippings on. I didn’t realise that also helped with protection from the elements, so that’s good to know.

    Solving flat roof water problem

That’s an interesting point. Could the problem be down to the fact that ‘top felt’ has not been put down yet? As I understand it there is only ‘underlay’ and a couple layers of blackjack roof repair.

    Solving flat roof water problem

It’s an extension to the garage and that has always had water on sitting on it at the back side so I’m pretty sure that’s not level either. The gutter is at the other end of the garage. If I get the roof relaid to slope towards the existing garage roof it will just sit there, so would it be best...

Rendering steps. Wanting a smooth finish

I rendered a step (1 of 2) last weekend and were wanting to paint it, however the finish isn’t as smooth as we’d hoped even though using plastering/rendering sand. I used a 4:1 mix. I’ve sampled some ‘external’ filler which I really didn’t like and removing it ha take a fair hit of material...

Bit of advice for workshop power.

Yes it does have RCD protection. Ive got plenty of 2.5mm cable for the sockets and 1.5 for the lights.

Bit of advice for workshop power.

Sorry just seen the questions. Was on the phone app before and it wasn't updating the post. Just to clarify: What size is the cable from the consumer unit to the garage - 2.5mm2 T&E What device(s) protected the cable in the consumer unit - add pictures here if unsure. - Pic above, seems to be...

Just looking around a bit more and as this is from the CU it will be ok if done as a radial circuit?

Bit of advice for workshop power.

It comes from the main CU in the house. Has it’s own breaker.
