UK regulations and bathroom socket outlets

Thanks I guess as JohnW said different people will have different ideas about what is safe and what isn’t. A lot of countries would consider electric showers to be unsafe however they are common place in the UK. Another example being some countries believe it’s only necessary to include...

UK regulations and bathroom socket outlets

Is the UK the only country that prohibits socket outlets in the bathroom (unless they are 10 feet from the bathtub) it seems most other countries (even Australia which has generally been more strict with electrics) don’t seem to have a issue with them. From a safety perspective it’s probably a...

Couple of questions about electricity meters

    1) if the electric meter belongs to the company you buy your electricity from (as opposed to the DNO) why can you change suppliers without needing your meter changed wouldn’t the old supplier want their meter back 2) I got a letter today about fitting a evil smart meter. Do I have the right to...

extractor fan very close to the shower

The label is rather faded however it does claim to be “safety extra low voltage” as for the pull cord It about 3 feet long. I don’t use that shower anyway as I don’t trust electric showers. I was just wondered if the close proximity of the fan was compliant with building code.

extractor fan very close to the shower

is it normal for a extractor fan to be this close to the shower. It looks too close and in a position where it could be accidentally sprayed with water if someone were to actually use the shower. Is this acceptable or a obvious building code violation CBED6CCA-65AC-4811-BB95-1715F504D52E by...

Controversy regarding LGBT lessons in primary schools

As most people have probably heard there had been protests over the controversial LGBT lessons in primary schools. As someone who vehemently disagrees with these lessons as I find them very concerning especially at such a young age and it appears a lot of people (even non religious) believe...

    Gas cooker installed incorrectly

So the cooker installation is a mess in your opinion? As for the “toothbrush charger” it isn’t even a toothbrush charger it’s a battery charger bought in Europe

    Gas cooker installed incorrectly

I had a gas cooker installed on November 2018 by the manufacturer. Today when a gas engineer arrived to perform annual gas safety inspection he informed me it was installed incorrectly and there was 3 regulation violations. I showed him the certificates and he called the installation company who...

High electricity usage in empty flat

Unfortunately I won’t be back there until Wednesday but I will take photos when I get there. The property has a gas combi boiler (which is unplugged at the moment) so I doubt it could be a immersion heater.

High electricity usage in empty flat

No it looks like a compact fluorescent fixture beside the front door (although a neighbor did tell me it’s flickering so presumably needs the bulb replacing)

why is loss of freedom of movement in eu seen as a big deal

I'm personally all for brexit and the UK leaving the EU. My OP was related to the loss of freedom of movement when the UK leaves. If someone was wanting to move abroad for a better quality of life it is more likely they would chose countries like the US, Canada, Australia, Saudi, New Zealand...

why is loss of freedom of movement in eu seen as a big deal

The UK will still continue to have diplomatic relations with EU countries just as it has diplomatic relations with non-EU countries today. We are not going to isolate ourselves from the world and pretend continental Europe doesn't exist.

why is loss of freedom of movement in eu seen as a big deal

Actually I have lived in a few different countries throughout my life mainly because of family from and/or living there. You are missing the point I said if you were immigrating for a better life it is doubtful continental Europe would be on your list of places to stay. EDIT: I am 24 which is...

why is loss of freedom of movement in eu seen as a big deal

Complaining about loss of freedom of movement doesn't make any sense if you wanted to move abroad for a better life you wouldn't choose continental Europe as a place to stay countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the Arabian gulf (eg Saudi Arabia) would be far more sensible...
